Alright, I've been dying to buy an Access or Double Cab, 4x4, but I haven't found one in my price range ($10-12,000), until today...

The only problem is the one I've found is a 2006 Access Cab, 5-speed, 4x4 with 182,000 miles.

It's certified CarFax 1-owner, for what that's worth, but no service records are available.

I regularly see '00 and prior Tacomas with more than 200,000+ miles selling for $3-8,000 on Craigslist, but I've never come across a 2nd gen model with such high miles.

I would appreciate any thoughts about purchasing this vehicle.

The white one at MidAmer.? thought about buying it as a daily beater. It won't be a bad purchase, a little cleaning up be a nice truck with lots of life left. You don't scoop it up I might.:D

I'm sure the truck is fine, might need some general maintenance and stuff, plugs, brakes and etc. The 2.7 is a hell of an engine and pretty bullettproof just check stuff over and should last awhile

As long as it appears to have been maintained and does not make any funny noises I think it would be okay. Ideally you would have maintenance records to look at.

I know it's a Tacoma, but don't underestimate how hard of a time they are going to have selling a truck with that many miles on it. I remember seeing a nearly identical truck advertised private party a while back. It was private party, 100K miles and they were asking $10K.

Make sure you get it for the right price.

Yep, that's the one. I'd love to buy it, but don't want to turn around and put $3000 in it... If I'm going to spend that much, I would rather get a little older double cab.

I was thinking the exact same thing with 19,500 miles!!

I never understood how little mileage affects the depreciation of a vehicle. IMO, $10K seems a bit much for a vehicle that's easily past it's prime, especially with no service records. However, unlike the loan-man, my perception of vehicle ownership as an intangible investment is directly proportional to my menial civil servant salary, so I place much more emphasis in longevity than most.

BTW, I just picked up my '06 regular cab 4X4 4-banger in January for a little over-$13,000 with 17,658 miles on the odo, if that helps you at all.
