Hey there, new guy here. I've got a bone stock, plain jane '08 Tacoma and even though it's creeping up on 300,000 miles, overall it's in excellent shape and the interior is mint. I'd like to get a nice dash cover for it before the Central California sun starts to take it's toll. I suspect it had one before but the previous owner tossed it before selling the truck to me. I ordered a dash cover right after I bought it a couple years ago but ended up returning it. The thing looked like Stevie Wonder sewed it with his feet and it didn't fit worth a damn. I don't mind paying a little more for one that fits properly. I considered the Carhartt one but I've never seen one in person so I'm not sure how they look up close. Any suggestions/phots of yours?

    Thanks, Mike

I'd do ceramic tint + reflective windshield screen before a dash cover. Those covers always fit like crap and IMO they look ugly. And to top it off, they often ruin the dash once removed. A previous owner of my truck clearly had a dash cover because there are small grey squares all over the dash from where the adhesive pulled off the factory dash coating.

The side/rear windows are already tinted. I hate those silver reflective things, they're always in the way when not in use and a hassle to keep putting them up and taking them down.

Wasn't talking about the side windows. I was talking about the windshield. You can get ceramic "tint" which is essentially clear rather than dark like your side windows. It blocks 99% of UV light which will not only protect your dash but help cut down how hot it gets inside the vehicle.

Its sorta one of those things you gotta feel to believe. I was skeptical when a friend told me about it. Then I bit the bullet and did the windows and windshield of my wife's CRV. It's kinda crazy, with regular tint I can still feel heat on my skin from the sun coming thru the glass, with ceramic tint I don't feel the heat. Ceramic tint immediately became a "must have" for all of our vehicles. Worth every penny, IMO.

Huh, never heard of ceramic tint before, I'll have to look into that. Thanks for the heads up.

I know prices can vary, but roughly how much could I expect to pay for this type of tint?
