Does that hood deflector actually do anything or just looks?

I found the missing piece to my build’s puzzle. Tires. I picked up some Toyo AT3 in 285/75/17 to put on my SCS F5’s and threw my Bilstein 6120/5160’s w/ 650# coils & Icon RXT stage 3 leafs, SPC uppers, ARB carrier bearing drop, ECGS clam shell bushing, and some extended brake lines.. I’ve been impatiently sitting on most of this stuff gathering bits here and there for this very slow build.

Love bugs are super bad here, so bad I had paint removed on my mirrors before I got rid of the colored mirror trim. Yes it helps. It shows when I get around a bunch of other unwashed Tacomas. You can really see the difference, during the season of course. As for looks, I liked this one more than the other styles on the market.

You could always use the "rest it on your body while you slide under the truck, lift it up, thread the screws, then tighten it down" method.

That does work, but using something like a floor jack, or paint cans, ect, ect to get it up closer to the truck in order to start all the bolts by hand is honestly the way to go.

Balancing that heavy ass thing on your chest while simultaneously trying to keep the far end aligned with at least 1 hole, all the while trying to start the front ones wasn't ideal.
A floor jack is pretty ideal since you can get it right up there close enough to hand start all the bolts but really anything (paint cans, small rolling sitting stool or the like) that gets you close would work better that just using your chest to balance it.

I never claimed it was ideal or even easy, but it IS a way to install that heavy ass skid plate.

For sure that’s definitely an option but I really won’t have the time until this weekend anyway. Also I needed a new floor Jack so might as well just use that and make the job a little easier lining everything up:thumbsup: Thanks for the suggestion though.

I put my Taco on some Rhino ramps. This seems to be a good height to roll on my mechanic's creeper right underneath while resting the skid plate on my chest. Once I started the rear bolts it was quite easy to get the rest aligned and bolted in.
