Man, it’s incredible the difference ceramic tint makes. Went shopping for half an hour and came back out and the truck was hardly hot and my AC barely has to work to keep the cabin cool.

    15% sides and 50% windshield with a 5% eyebrow.

Let me know what you find out - this is on the list for this year, as well, now that the GA one expired.

Still no word back, but got this reply from a local FFL.

Interesting! Well, looking forward to the final answer. I'd like to save myself the cost of a CCW class, but don't mind the additional review for the sake of putting the wife through it.

I'm sure we're good, so $60 for the app and need to find out how much fingerprinting costs. My biggest motivator is not having to spend any more time in a CCW class, the NM was long AF

:annoyed: I swear to god sometimes working on your house shows more issues than actual fixes.

I got my door deadbolt fixed, turns out it was just binding because it had no graphite lube in there. Now it's smooth as butter but while I was there I was replacing the little half ass hinge screws with proper longer screws, and I have a stripped hole that works just fine until the last 1/4" when the screw just drops and spins freely.:confused: Any idea what might be causing that? Did they not actually fully frame out my door or something? I tried the toothpick and wood glue fix and it made things worse.:bananadead:

Did my first oil change on my 3rd Gen today.

What a damn shit show that was...

Big thanks to the lube tech at the dealer I went to last for putting the filter housing with a 1" impact :annoyed:

Snapped one of the tabs on the oem housing getting it off. Looking at it, I don't think it cracked through to the filter chamber. I went ahead and ordered an aluminum housing that should be here tomorrow.

Thoughts on just sending it with the oem plastic until my next oil change vs. swapping it to the aluminum as soon as I get it?

Send 'er. Those tabs break off because most tools don't actually engage with anything but the tabs. It's a terrible idea someone at Toyota needs to be slapped for. I use a MotivX tool specifically designed for the housing, and the worst I've had is a bitch of a time getting the plastic housing back out of the tool. A good rap on the ground (the tool, not the housing) breaks it free.

My question to you is this, though: if you gave that same tech his same 1" impact, what do you think an aluminum housing would do to the threads on your block? ;)

Aha, had someone explain it to me. The mystery hole that works until it doesn't... I'm hitting drywall. :rofl:That's just the way frames and hinges are set up.

I feel dumb but it's also a relief I guess.

How long are screws you are using, door/window frames should be doubled up 2x material? Worse case throw a number 10 screw in there...kinda like the old hotdog down a hallway.

Started our new porch today, not a fan of buying wet wood. Don't recall buying so much wood that's still dripping sap as the past 3 years have brought to market. Did figure out that 28 2x6x8 correct my taco lean lol.

I was using 2 and a half inch number 9s.

Basically what was happening was my screw was going down the red line.
    door thing.png

I even had the drill set to a low torque and everything, you barely touch the bottom of the hole and it just spins freely immediately. Which makes sense when you realize the sumbich is in drywall.

Still pissed off at that door jamb though, wanna just tear it out and replace it. That's my solution, fuck it, throw it out!:p

Ah shit, that blows. Must be some heavy duty hinges to be that wide, could try decking screws that are essentially all thread so that there isn't a smooth shank spinning in the frame. Totally get your frustration, replaced a door and that drove me batty. Nothing in this house is square...past owner was quote, a handy fellow...in reality he was about as handy and VD. Ended up having to swallow my pride and get the door "square" and hide the ugly with 3/4 square stock to make the casing look flush.

But theyre homes, got the rest of our lives to tinker on them.

Yeah they're thick as all hell hinges and the casing is like 5/8ths, add to that a half inch of drywall and suddenly the screws that go in at almost exactly 1 and 1/8th from the edge... doh!

I think the ultimate nugget of truth that's hard to swallow sometimes is most houses out there were built on a time schedule by people who didn't care and have a heavy dose of "fuck it close enough" and cut corners applied throughout. Fixing it up is mostly just triage of what can stay as is and what's only gonna get worse.
