My headlights are weathered pretty bad and I have wanted new headlights for a while now. Does anyone have any suggestions, I have a 2012 Tacoma base model.

OEM. Do a search for headlights and you'll see the recommendations fore OEM and problems with aftermarket. An option is headlight restore kits. Some claim good results, some don't.

    None that I can tell
Are there OEM options that provide better and more powerful light?

This is the best way to improve light output from the OEM housings... and the OEM housings are better than the majority of the aftermarket stuff.

Don't be the jackass that puts LED bulbs into our factory housings; you'll end up blinding everyone around you.

Exactly! Nothing worse that putting LED bulb in halogen housing.

"My headlights are weathered pretty bad"
I was able to restore severely weathered headlights on a 2008 Scion using the 3-M PREMIUM AUTO ULTRA HEADLIGHT RESTORATION KIT. Like other 3-M products, the key is to follow the directions meticulously. They claim 40 minutes total, but I spent an hour on each headlight and was 100% happy with the results. For ~ $30, it may be worth a try!

So LEDs in a Halogen housing? Have you leveled the cut off line? Do they have a cut off line? If not, you're that guy...

I use the Sylvania Kit. The key is to use the UV sealer after the polish. Lasts 2-3 years before a redo.

I bought DEPO about 8 years ago and they’ve held up really well. I sealed them with silicone prior to installation and have had no leaks. The lenses have remained clear and haven’t deteriorated yet. They also adjust well unlike other aftermarkets.

The photo in post #6 shows why you shouldn't use led emitters in the OEM reflector housings - the upper cut off is missing. Use a lens renewal kit first - then start shopping...........

Basics. Tires, painted headlighes, UHLM, baby winch in the bed, and heated mirrors :)
One thing I love about this forum, is the general consensus of discouraging the improper install of LEDs, and instead suggesting better, simpler methods of getting better results. That's the epitome of what separates most taco owners from obnoxiously ignorant truck bros IMO.

I used Meguires metal polish and it rubbed the cloud right out of the plastic. Wolfgang plastic sealer polish afterwards. Clear as, well, glass!

    All the time!!!
I went with 2015 OEM TRD dark front head lamp sets, and Morimoto 2 stroke 3.0 LED bulbs, and Morimoto 4 banger LED fog lights. It really changed the front of my Tacoma! IMG_2945.jpgIMG_3024.jpgIMG_2976.jpg

Just pick up a set of the OEM Pro housings & perform the ultimate headlight upgrade linked above. Best & most reliable way to upgrade your light output.
