OEM Factory bed cover question

My 2023 is due in next week but for some reason the pkg it is coming with has the OEM Bed Cover. I hate this cover and the bed caps etc. etc. I know I can remove the cover, bed caps ( Get new bed caps ) and hardware but I have a question. Are these holes behind the screws already there on every tacoma or are the holes drilled for installation? I plan on just getting new bed caps that aren't cut and taking all the pieces off but wasn't sure if I needed to do something with the holes left behind under the caps? You can see the holes exposed once removed. Do the screws go back in or leave them open and reinstall the bed rail/caps?

 

I can't answer your questions, but why don't you at least give the OEM cover a bit of a try before you toss it into the dumpster? It's actually a pretty solid piece of gear. Otherwise.....

I would suspect it is just the bed rail caps (plastic trim) that is different.

 

No I know the caps are different and will buy new caps for the bed but wanted to know if the screw holes are there from the factory or not on every tacoma?

 

I have a 2021 here and I just ran my fingers under the rail cap and those DO appear to be there. Couldn't tell if the threaded inserts were installed though without removing the entire cap.

 

I confirmed today that the holes are there from the factory and are threaded. You only see them if you have the oem cover with the pre cut caps.
