I'm sure you know that the crosstrek is a lifted impreza.

Next time try the cerakote kit. Best money ever spent. I’m not paid by them.

Well i took it to a detail/wrap shop to see if they could 'fix' the clear then put some PPF on the roof. Guy said once it actually bubbles they generally dont do wraps because if heaven forbid they have to pull up the film to reposition it or something it can pull chunks of clear up with it. So... he suggested i go to a body shop and have them prep and shoot a new layer of clear over it (assuming paint is still good).

Bummer, but it is what it is.

My hood and roof were terrible. I looked at the wrap options too. The paint prep nearly doubled the price for a wrap. Had a pro shop strip and repaint for $980. Happier than I would have been with a more expensive wrap. I have no plans to sell but I do think paint holds the value better than a wrap. Paint appeals to a broader market even though there is no "cool" factor to it.

Ya, i need to get some quotes on a respray. I'm really hoping the actual MGM paint is good and they can just re-clear it.

Makes me want to PPF my hood though before it too starts going bad.

Oh damn. ya that was bad (looks great now!). Mine is much better as far as a 'before':

    IMG_5549.jpg

As you can hardly see, those little white dots are the clear coat just starting to go, was trying to catch it before it got too bad... but apparently i'm already at that stage.

If I could find a place close to where I live that would repaint my truck properly for $980, I wouldn’t hesitate to have it done.
Looks like the place you went did a decent job.

I thought it was a good price and it is a 3rd generation owner of a 45 year old shop. MAACO was around the same price. They took several readings with a computerized paint spectrophotometer, and it looks great however, at certain times of the day or if it's real cloudy, it appears to be a shade off. I probably notice it more than anyone else. I did buy new rubber roof drip moldings for around $140 since the originals were looking chalky. Very happy with it for the money.
