Nope, I’ve been running them for 33K miles now and I consistently get 22mpg on the highway, sometimes a bit better. Last weekend I filled up near home and drove to the Outer Banks, still had a quarter tank when I got there.

 

Now you guys have me getting nervous… I just stepped up to 18’s…

 

Once my truck got 17mpg on a road trip...I didn't drive faster than 65. 22 would be wonderful.

 

lol dang! That’s about what I got when I had 33” mud terrains.

Yeah I normally drive like a grandma on road trips so that is a huge contributing factor in terms of my MPGs.

 

Wait 22MPG...are you driving 45mph? I hit 18 once on a 50mph backroad. Seriously though how is that even possible?

lol nope not 45mph, just normal highway speeds. My rule of thumb on long haul trips is typically 5 over the speed limit and I stay in the slow lane. This pic was from my first tank of gas on the way to the outer banks last weekend.

My speedometer is confirmed 100% accurate so these numbers should be accurate also…



The tank I went through on the trip back was almost exactly the same. I averaged 23.0mpg for most of that leg of the trip until I hit traffic.

 

Do you have the 2.7? Seriously mine hasn't even crossed 20 on the highway at 65-70

 

GM. Just watered the garden. There is a burnt rubbery smell. Is that just me or is it Canadian mist?

I’m bouncing between 18.5 and 19.5 in a mix of highway and backroad driving.

 

Nope I have the 3.5L V6.

Is your bed open? I have always felt that having a bed cover, or shell in my case, helps fuel economy. Maybe it’s just an old wives tail but it seems accurate to me having owned two different trucks and run both with and without open beds.

Best i get is 18.5 on the way to work. I don’t think it’s right since that is based off incorrect milage readings. My trip to the office is 72 miles and my truck says it’s 66 now with the larger tires. I’ve not tried to do the math to figure the right mpg.

 

I think you’re correct on this. I need new tires and have been running 265/70R17 Falken Wildpeaks, but looking at the 255/80R17. Save some weight. I have my truck tuned, but 19+/- MPG is where I’m at.

 

Immediately after I installed my suspension lift I called our tire warehouse and had them send down four 265/75's and four 285/75's Duratracs to our shop. After comparing the weight difference of the much heavier 285's I had the delivery driver leave me the 265's. I did alot of driving back then so mpg's were a concern for me. Doesn't look bad with the lift & 265's.

 

While out playin in the Landcruiser I blew out a donut gasket. On a positive note these 4.5L straight 6 engines are easy to wrench on.

 

Yea I went with Spicer Ujoints and OEM CB.

 

My current tank is running about 27mpg. Stock 4x4 V6.

Interstate driving, kept it under 63 or so hauling a queen mattress
