Hi there. Who doesn’t love a quick and dirty opinion driven bru ha ha.

Probably a poll would have made sense. But here we go.

I am running (soon) Method 305; 16’ wheels. (No.. I will not go 17).

    Tires would be a 275/75/16

Then I’m upgrading to LT wheels… I think .. C or E. I run a 220lb RTT 100lb Awning, Fridge and slide and on a trip 1500 lbs of people, pets, gear.

I’m running Wildpeak AT3’s don’t see a huge need to change.

But as of today I’m considering the Wildpeaks or…

    1. Nitto Terra Grabbers A/T in an LT
    2. The good old Bridgestone KO2’s in an LT.

Anyone got a favorite of these or… something I should be considering??

    Thanks in advance.

*BFG KO2 *Nitto Terra Grappler lol.

I'd get the E rated tire, skip the C for that much weight and presumed abuse. C's can handle the capacity of tacoma, but E's are nice insurance and last longer.

I'd say stick with wildpeak tires, BFG's are hit and miss, I find they do slightly better off road, but the issues attached to them outweigh any pros.

Grapplers are a great tire, but I find they are quite tame. We don't see many in my dealer, they came with the 4runner Pro and looked like a car tire in SL.

No experience with the Grapplers, but I was always a KO2 fanboy. Recently made the switch to e-rated wild peaks. Couldn’t be happier with my choice. The e-rated WP were actually lighter the a KO2 rated C and I gained about 2 miles per gallon. But hey… ymmv

I was going to gloss over that, but I’m pretty sure he meant Firestone.

I've had both Nitto TG's and the KO2'S and would recommend both.

It's been a minute since I went through this myself but I think the Nittos are the heaviest of the three....if that matters to you. I've been running Wildpeaks, for the money they're where it's at.

I have Nitto TG and love them.

Note: I don’t off-road like some. I do hit sand, gravel, dirt and grass. Good on street and rain.

Not to rule out the other options, I just haven’t experienced them.

No issues with the wildpeaks on my 1st gen.

Went with Goodyear Duratracs on the 3rd gen due to a $250 rebate. Big fan of the Duratracs. I know they are not on your list, but definitely worth a look. They are also a 3 peak severe service rated tire as well in most sizes.

^I'll also back up the duratrac. Was a very solid tire over many years in various conditions.

    Thanks everyone. Drunk typing. Dumb.

BF KO2’s for sure. Maybe an autocorrect. My fault either way.

I feel like Wildpeaks are in store for another round. Going to look into the yoko’s and I’ll look at the Duratracs too. A rebate would be killer.

    Did you mean 265/75-16?

Also look at the Firestone Destination X/T if you are looking for options. They are E-rated but one of the lighter options.... 45 lbs in that size vs 53 lbs for the KO2.

Here's the thread about them, not super popular but the people who have them really like them.
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/firestone-destination-x-t.623548/

I have the 245/75-16 on my SR (4-cyl/4x4 ... needed lightness ) and they only weigh 39 lbs in that size. Really happy with them, and usually about $100/set cheaper than KO2s. I have been on lots of easy/moderate trails in Colorado with them aired down to 15 PSI and they do great on rocks and sand. They barely affected my MPG, I lost maybe 1 MPG all around.

Finally got this sorted. Went the way of the Wildpeak; hard to find a bad review; and frankly never questioned how much I like them.
