Where Have You Off-Roaded Today? 3rd Gen

Yes. I only made 4 of 10 miles (on route 172 at least) because I was just getting used to tilt angles and some of the blind-corner single-track had me praying I would not meet anyone from the opposite direction. I think I could handle the 10 now, but need to drive the 35 miles (from Chandler) just to get to the Queen Valley turnoff from US 60.

I'm so jealous! I passed through on a road trip in April and every road I tried to take was still closed due to snow. I was really bummed, I had been planning on spending some time exploring and I live in Ohio so I'm not sure when I'll be able to get back. It's beautiful!

Heart Attack Hill was super fun! Maxed out the dash pitch gauge on a few of the obstacles. First time out with the new tires and brought them down to 15 psi, it was a night and day difference from the stock tires.

Aqua Fria Monument, near Black Canyon AZ. Yes, my spine vanished 18 miles into the 37 miles needed to reach the footbridge. But AZ regularly posts "Primitive road ... proceed at your own risk", you actually take this sign seriously.



Around the corner from it the road dropped significantly while having a minor ditch to the left side (second picture of the two should show a several hundred foot drop, and the road down below is visible to the left of the first picture).



I am getting better at managing rocks, tipping sections that drop off to the side, etc. On the way back I found these 15 ft tall flowers.



As to the high-priced "enchance TACOMA in the tailgate" ... mine is dirt-cheap.



This sign is 5 miles down gravel road, off an interstate exit that was helpfully marked as "no services". Funny that I did not see a "downtown" ...

If you ever feel the need to roll the trail to Black Canyon City Overlook, don’t bother. Too much effort w/ near zero payoff.

Also, you may or may not know that Bumble Bee was the site of an unsolved double murder about 20yrs ago. The case is still open. Dude & his girlfriend found shot dead at night while camping in their pickup truck bed.

Daytrip up to San Francisco Peaks Scenic Loop in Flagstaff. We’ve had 30+ days of >110° & 17 days of >115°, so a break from the Phoenix heat was welcome. While it was 116° yesterday, it was 68° at Snowbowl @ 11.5k ft elevation.
