I have a crew cab '03 Tacoma setup for camping/overland activities. I was wondering if anyone has taken the rear bench seat and replaced it with two seats matching those in the front. This would leave 4 single seats overall and make space in the back for a utility or sub box etc to sit in between both seats. I'm wondering if this is a project that would be worth looking in to.

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
Since your asking I venture your lacking the skills at this time to do the project yourself.

This can be done but would get expensive without crunching numbers would you source the seats and steel yourself?? This would be a time and materials job.Did 2 Ford F350`s that were Towing Rigs for hauling horses years ago.

Have searched else where someone might offer a kit?

Just how bad did you need this??

    Good Luck!

The problem is that there isn't much room back there. You'll quickly lose all legroom if you want the seats to recline at all. Look at how upright the seatbacks are back there.

Aren’t the rear seats sitting top of some elevated deck of sorts?

Definitely not lacking the skills to do it myself. Seats and steel are not hard to find either. I'm just making a post to see if anyone has successfully done it before. Looking to see if there were any roadbumps or ways to make the process smoother the first time around.

Like was mentioned leg clearance seems to be the major problem area. Two children or people with short legs.

The Ford cabs have lots more room to work with.Do some measurements decide if it is feasible .

I have yet to ever have 2 of the same projects turn out to be the same.

    Interesting idea in any case

    Good luck!
