Gonna be a tough weekend to find a secluded spot just about anywhere, especially anywhere water related. Can't speak for the full NE Ga or surrounding area options but it may be worth looking into some of the smaller spots like Lake Tugaloo. Any place that has HP restrictions or is paddle only would be ideal I'd think.

July 4th weekend always seems to bring out the stupid in people more than other holidays on the water.

34.68215, -84.14058 that spot is a little off the beaten path. Pizzasteve5717 and I went a couple months ago. It looks like there is a kayak in camp spot on the other side of the lake with a rope swing. I haven't been back with my kayak to find out though.

Right at 12 minutes into this video they are doing walking stick rd. It looks like a fun place to wheel. Then its a hike to a waterfall. Anyone down to do it? https://youtu.be/F4ivSdHJDbQ

Looks like a good time to me. I'd be down if we could go during the week. I can skip out of work no problem during the week as long as I can plan ahead. A bit harder for me to skip out of parenting on the weekends since I have young toddlers. They're not quite old enough yet to enjoy a trip like this.

Going up there at 12 on a friday when I get off is the only way I can go during the "week." Your lucky that it's easier for you to skip work than skip being at home. I have a baby that was born in January. I've taken her kayaking and wheeling multiple times already. (Very carefully and slowly of course)

I am going to do that walking stick rd and hike to hiding falls today if anyone wants to meet me up there. I'll be getting on walking stick rd off of horse cove rd. It says it will take me around 2 hours to get there.

I started my day with watching the sunrise on the lake. Went wheeling, and then grilled me a ny stip by the river. It was a real good day. Pictures don't do that trail justice. It's intense. I came down real hard on a rock and it worried me. I'm gonna go back after my skids come in.

I was at Dawson WMA last week during the rain, it looks like almost all of the trails there were closed off in one way or another. I had to go further up and enter from Sweetwater, and the off roading was very limited. I was really hoping to make my way back, does anyone know if there is a way that I can check for closures? I'd love to get a group next time I can head out, but don't want to risk it all being closed. It's unfortunate because all of the trails looked really neat.

You can call the local ranger district and ask them if certain FSRs are open on the day you intend to go.

There used to be an online interactive map that was updated with the current status that you could load into google maps, but it was taken down for some reason a couple years ago so the only maps are static pdfs.

Right on. Thanks man. Let me know if any of y'all would be interested in heading out some time, Shoal Creek Rd was a lot of fun on previous trips.

which one of all grenaded your rear end on a trail in North georgia? i got a call from offroad warehouse asking if i still had my original gears to help this guy out but unfortunately they never gave them to me. Apparently they were calling all 3rd gen owners who have had work at the shop asking.

Went out this weekend and spent the day exploring through a WMA, had a good time finding some ruins and a old confederate family cemetery along the way.

I'm thinking about meeting somewhere around there for dinner, then heading to the trail.

OK cool. I'll be waiting for the details. I get off at 12 and it will take me two hours to get to that spot. I'll have the truck ready and drive it to work that day.
