Hahaha, I have both. And I still keep my old simple red handled punch down tool in my bag...
Thankfully, I don't use it often

We have a kit with a good Fluke punch down tool, among other things. My techs mostly use that, though, since they're doing the bigger wiring jobs.

I figure this will be good to keep in my backpack for surprise situations and it won't take up much space. I can even remove my simple screwdriver since this will do that.

alright, new crazy idea. what if i trade the gx, sell the tacoma, get a new trd pro manual before you can't get them anymore?

any idea what my truck might be worth privately? i don't think a dealership would be interested in it

That's how I feel about thinking about selling mine.

I've seen trucks on the tacoma pages still going for $28-$32k sometimes a little bit more

Keep the second gen I say, 40k is nothing and the trd pro isn't really anything to write home about (especially not for the premium you'd be paying).

Like what? Vs the 2015 I have carplay but that's a 400$ HU swap. I have adaptive cruise but I'm a feather foot so I never use it, I always end up being passed by everyone. Power slider is cool. But we got the same chassis because Toyota. I have better headlights though :D Power seats suck, they take forever to move when cleaning, and once your seat's in place, it just stays there.....

:notsure: if the '15s in good running shape I'd keep it.

I'm not impressed by the fourth gen so far. I really don't like the tailgate power thing, it has the Team Rocket hair thing going on off the roof for the third brake light which will mess up toppers/caps, you have to have the OR or higher trim level to get off leaf springs.

But I'd wait until they drop and you can test drive one before you do anything. It might not be 'tomorrow' that you can get a used turd gen MT Pro, but they pop up if you aren't sold on the fourth gen.

Really for me the biggest gripes are the power tailgate and the team rocket third brake light.

(also that the 2 door now loses the suicide doors).

smart key, softex seats, heated seats, moonroof, power slider, carplay, wireless charger, dual zone (to save the marriage as my husband says)

mine is in good shape but to make it what i want it to be i'd have to put some money into it so i'm wondering if i should just start over rather than taking mine apart

There's a bunch of little things that bother me about it; I heard the receiver hitch is welded on, the body lines are super goofy, some of the configurations seem...odd, definitely not sold on them just yet

Okay fair. I leave mine in my pocket all day long, don't have to take it out of my pocket to get in and go. But for the turd gens, the MTs don't use the smart key, just a heads up.

    100$ :D

    Sawzall :spy:

    Glorious.

    400$

Meh. I don't use it, but to each their own. I have a wireless carplay adapter, but otherwise, the turd gens are only wired. Not sure about the fourth gen.

That and auto climate I do kinda miss. BUT the cabs are so small, it's not that big of a deal.

Chassis wise or cab wise? Cab, you got a lot on your plate. Chassis/suspension, you'd have to with a new one too.

Hey, to each their own, I really like the creature comforts, I don't have heated seats/sunroof, but respect the want. I would say still wait for the fourth to drop so you can test them out. At this point it's only a couple more months. Doesn't mean the turd gens evaporate, you'll probably be able to find lease turn ins with <30k on them still for a while.

Oof, heated seats are something I will never give up going forward. I'm too far gone at this point lol, but I'd still consider just retrofitting most of that in vs starting over. Worst case it'll probably cost you the same but you have a solid truck you'll know is good. Best case you save a couple bucks

More electronic stuff to break down on you. Your 2nd gen, especially with the low miles you have on it and the fact that you really do baby it (maybe not necessarily on the trails lol), will will never really loose its value and always be reliable.
