Got a MANUAL(@Dm93) 2009 Offroad AC with 134k miles and need some advice on parts.

Got a set of Fox 2.0s to replaces the shocks and a pair of stiffer coils from my friend he had on his 4Runner so far, but what else should I get to get her updated, handling better, should be replaced anyway, etc? I don't know shit about shit. Teach me.

She sounds like a old squeeky Farm Truck sometimes and I think its the rear Bushings, but could be wrong. If it is, what should I purchase?

    Ball Joints? CV Boots? What?

Thanks in advance everyone. I do appreciate it.

It depends on what you use your truck for.

If the truck isn’t an active off-roader or something.

Fox front and rear replacement sounds good

@whatstcp @Blueberry.Taco Better handling, light(mountain camping) off roading only. I mostly just drive around my little beach town. Mostly updates for maintenance with a lift via the Fox 2.0s. Will do those checks on the ball joints, bushings, boots, U-Joints, etc. Replaced the transmission fluid not too long ago and the spark plugs.

Really the first thing is to decide on a budget. Your budget might be more or less than others. On my 09 my budget was to keep for the foreseeable future, and replace all suspension parts.
Best of luck with whatever you decide but it's an older truck I agree with the others.

Thanks for the reminder, but I actually bought a set of bumpstops and have them in hand. I forget the brand, but I researched and got some. Tried to search my phone and it looks like I got them from Tacomabeast, but couldnt find the order. Will check when I get home later and report back.

I'll probably get some BFG Pizza Cutters(Just watched Tinkerers Adventure "Wide vs Narrow Offroad tires" when my 285s are done. Not sure how big I can go, but I'll look at that after the Fox 2.0s are put on and when they are as they close to being done.

@Tiedie I've got the money for whatever I want, but I'm a frugal guy, not a serious off roader or future crawler. Some Mexico surf missions, shitty road comfort upgrades, and longevity are what I'm focused on. I am no "SoCal flat bill hat bro" that wants to jack this thing up and accessorize it with a bunch of "stuff".

That's great I have BFG KO2's 265/75/16 I like them fine. On my suspension upgrade I went with Dobinsons suspension with their 111 leafs and SPC UCA'S and replaced all bushings ang bolts u joints were fine for now. And carrier bearing too, did do the carrier bearing drop just for better angles for drive shaft.
Now to your squeak's might be your leaf's. How sad are your leaf's? Mine looked like big W's.:rofl:

@Tiedie Thanks for the info. I don’t think my leafs look too sad, but let me know. All I carry back there is random dog toys, surf wax, and surfboards. No crazy loads.

Looks like you have a 3 leaf pack there's a recall to get a 4 pack. Then you're new again.

Whaaaaaat? I swore I went through the recalls for it. Thank you!! I’ll look that up now, but I’ve no experience with recalls and no other vehicle. Will the dealership handles this or an outside shop? Gonna have to schedule this when the surf sucks

    thanks again!!

@nd4spdbh Does OP stand for “Or Possibly”?? I’m 44 and not savvy with new age LoLisms. Not sure what “full take offs” refers to either. Please advise. Thanks.

@Tiedie found the Leaf spring recall and one for my busted Clockspring which is why I assume my Cruise Control doesn’t work.

Also, ran my bitch up the sand again and got her in 4Low with the clutch smashed to the floor, but she didn’t want to come out of it easily and had to start her rolling to get her to disengage with a slight clunk. Whatever. She’s a granny now so I’ll take it.

What should I expect from the dealer in regards to these recalls? I don’t assume they’ll be rushing me in and out, right? Thinking it’s an appointment that takes all day with everyone else’s “scheduled maintenance” or “oil changes” as a priority ahead of me. Hope I’m wrong and they replace this clockspring even though the light isn’t on.

@ClintKent 1st. thing get appointment for them to inspect and order parts. Then set appointment for the work to get done. Might take a few weeks for the parts to come in , a few hours or a day to get the work done. All in all not too bad.
Now your decision is within get upgraded rear leafs and file a claim with Toyota fro reimbursement or just get the Toyota leafs. That's up to your wants, just do some research on what or if Toyota will do. Also make sure your frame is not in bad shape for rust have dealer inspect before you go too far financially. The frame might just be out of campaign, as I was told but found a guy to do repair and undercoating.

If you want to know what exactly what their operational flow is for this recall, including parts numbers, what they will change.

Some say they gained a tiny tiny lift.
Yes you do get a tiny lift, but in time they will settle in.

note: my dealer had to remove my lift blocks due to lawyers and liability (here in Canada). They left all those parts in the passenger seat for me to install.

Here is my before and after photos.

OP means "original poster", so you haha.

As far as full take offs, that refers to people who remove essentially brand new suspension from their new trucks when they lift them shortly after purchase. Like this upload_2023-8-4_9-5-17.png

Also your friends shocks off his 4 runner likely wont fit and if they do wont be valved right for the weight of the tacoma.
