yeah it’s looking really hopeful. The judges in the 5th circuit kicked the appeal to overturn the preliminary injunction back down to the district court for reconsideration because they believe FPC will win in the end.

They really bashed the ATF in their opinions. One judge went as far to say that adding a brace or stock to a pistol makes it harder to conceal and safer to use because it’s more accurate.

I’m really glad I didn’t amnesty register anything. I debated it but knew I’d feel really stupid when this all got overturned.

 

Why would anyone feel stupid about getting free SBRs?

 

Depends on your situation. Not everyone wants a govt registry of their legal guns esp those that bought lowers via private party person to person etc I fully get that part. Then there's the restrictions on sbrs state to state travel some states the pistol format was legal but sbr configuration wouldn't be. Lots of reasons it wasn't really going to be free.

Myself my plan ever since I got the bcm was to sbr it cause I hate the brace. So instead of shelling out $200 I waited for the rule to come out. I've already got multiple nfa items so not like there really getting anything new other than a serial # they could get from a 4473

With that said I hope the atf gets told to pound sand this entire thing gets overturned nationally and we go about our merry way. When that happens I'll build out a new pistol lower again just to have for interstate travel etc and will give me an excuse to build a shorty 300blk upper

 

Just one? People who had several pistol braces probably could have made out well.

 

What about the folks that removed the brace to comply and destroyed it? The ass holes should have to reimburse them for it.

 

I didn’t want to because I fear my state might end up passing an AWB soon and in that situation I don’t want anyone having an inventory of what I own.

Edit: Also I didn’t want to register them so it would’ve been against my will. This is why I would’ve felt stupid if I complied and then it got overturned.

I did I can mail them the three pieces. I didn’t like it anyway but the point remains. First they say just remove it then say it has the be destroyed or discarded.

Why? A form 4 is a form 4. Other than the value of the item, it's all the same.

 

I know my stance is extreme because most likely things currently in possession would be grandfathered in BUT in an extreme case those millionaires would loose their MGs too. It’s not like millionaires in California can buy or own MGs because the state banned them.

I’m in a unique situation because Oregon has a super radical anti gun group funded by out of state billionaires that feels very empowered right now by their success in the last election. They are making a show about trying to get a full ban on every semi-automatic gun and if they have their way a mandatory buyback for everything in current possession.

I’m hoping the state learned their lesson this last go around but based on the fact that their last ballot measure passed by 0.5% I’m not trying to take any chances. I’d rather keep my brace on and keep my guns off the registry than risk potentially loosing it all to put a stock on when I’m content with my braces. (I know this is a very extreme “what if” but it’s a possibility where I live right now).

Also by no means am I anti NFA item. I own suppressors and have more in jail right now. I still might SBR some stuff down the line but I’d rather gamble a few hundred bucks in stamps and see where the dust settles in my state before doing so.

Nope. Buying an MG is the exact same process and paperwork as a suppressor. It just has a much bigger price tag.
