    Good Saturday Morning Porch Folks. Fickle Weather Witch played a trick on the weather guessers again. They were calling for a major storm coming through last night and not a drop fell :rolleyes:. Looks like we might get it today.

    Welcome to the thread Bill @Always running . We have a lot of folks that enjoy the outdoor life of hiking, fishing and hunting. Pull up a chair on the porch and join in. Folks will be dropping in to say Hi.

    Strange day yesterday, neighbor came over and asked if I had any ideas or tools to get some deck boards off that rotted. Ended up spending a several hours taking off 6 boards and replacing them along with setting up my new miter saw stand. I think I made a mistake going back to a 12" miter saw 49lbs and 2 shoulder surgery's, but dam does it work well. I love the higher rpms. He was happy. Treated wood.just isn't the same since it went to AS2 the good stuff is gone. He got a different perspective on the difference between home use tools vs professional or higher end tools. I've worked with quality and industrial tools all my life. I like my DeWalt job site table saw but it's not the same as a 1hp 3 phaze table saw. Getting ready for a week at the cabin.

    It's always sad to loose some of our younger people starting out with great futures a head of them. Prayers for your service buddy, Carl.

    I found out yesterday my great nephew passed his medical boards and got a new job at a rural hospital in Minnesota. He's excited as a new PA, so is another great niece who works there also. When he interviewed several of the female staff that met him commented on what a good looking man he was after he left. She kinda mentioned I know he's my cousin. He played football in HS and college. He had some eligibility left and took 2nd in javelin in grad school at Indiana.

    Congratulations to your Nephew Murray. Sounds like he will fit right in at the hospital. :thumbsup:

    Amen brother. We had a set of steps built a few years ago using treated lumber and I've been busy replacing the rotted parts.

    So true my deck has the good stuff it's still fair. Being 20+ his was <10 and the wood was shot. The shit he got for replacement, I did a dbl look at it to make sure it was treated. No green hue. I mentioned he should've gotten the ceder tone they have now, at least you can tell it's been treated. This new green treat is terrible. I've found greener cheese in my fridge.

    I can't say I'd buy DeWalt over other brands. I have some (corded) and they've been okay. DeWalts don't perform any better than the other brands, they are heavier for no good reason, and I've had problems with batteries going bad. I know a lot of professionals use them but I have brands that performed better over time.

    The brand I absolutely will NOT buy is Ryobi. I've bought a couple several years ago now and both tools fried in less than a day of mild use. And you can tell they are weak as soon as you start using them. I have tools that are twenty years old+ and have been used a lot, and are still kicking.

    The way I understand the green treated is not suitable for ground contact... which to me means it's not suited, period. And I've found it hard to get the red treated wood sometimes.

    @Travlr
    You can get ground rated green treated but I agree. Also Ryobi isn't my choice either. I got a set of drill bits of that brand every one has failed on a single use, even the larger 1/4" +. For what I paid, I may as well tossed the money in the garbage. I have never been a fan of their tools. That DeWalt table saw has been good so far but not as big a fan of their power miter saw. The rpms are a little lower than some. But I'm a huge fan of the Milwaukee fuel series in cordless. Standard not as much I've gone through those way to fast. But when I use them I expect them to handle the load.

    Can you believe the cost of replacement batteries? I should have bought some when I could get a two-pack for $99. And the tools come with the dinky batteries. I haven't heard of the "fuel series" Milwaukees. I've got a set of those that I've had for at least 12 years and the batteries are only now starting to get weak. I've had to put a couple of chucks on the driver but other than that they've been fine. I ordered screws a while back because I like torx and the local Home Depot doesn't have much selection, and I ordered them so they all have the same T25 size heads so I don't have to be changing bits constantly.

    The fuel series is there brushless line, more power lasts longer. They have some very large batteries now also. My impact driver sends a 3" screw to the head faster than some corded drivers

    Got 4+ inches of rain last night in a short period of time. Got a little in the. Basement very little, enough to make a 2x2 area damp.
