Don't drop it leaving a gas station and ride away....... Big part of why I preferred and chose the FJR over a Concours. There was a bike comparison I read years back involving those bikes and leaving a hotel one morning the Concours rider while leaving the buke warm up put his fob back in the hotel room and forgot it. Over 100 miles later they stopped for fuel and he was stuck. Rider with him had to backtrack to retrieve the fob.

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
You see that a lot in the city I used to live in, so glad I don’t live in that shit hole they call Atlanta anymore.

I was behind a bing hauler of cruisers. Apparently they lashed them together, 2 hogs fell off and were dragged about a hundred yards. The other bikes were almost yanked off by the other 2. It was a site to see.

Damn that would really suck... technology over complicating things. Going to be extra mindful of that now

Not sure how the GMR has faired with the whole hooning clout thing. It was never as popular as "The Snake" (I had met people from literally all over the world on the lookout of the snake)

Ya know, I have never ridden the GMR. I have ridden the Angeles crest (highway 2) and surrounding roads (Angeles forest highway) a time or two but never the GMR. I tend to stay away from LA county... I hate being anywhere close down there, also its a hard sale to ride 70-80 miles into traffic and LA on the freeway one way to go hit up a canyon road, when its 10mi or less of freeway to the Malibu hills and the ocean for me.

Though, now that you bring it up it is a road I want to ride and check the box... and the Super Tenere does eat the highway miles much better than the 919. Ill have to pick a day in the fall where its cooler though.

I hear ya on LA. When I lived in SD we would trailer bikes and all kinds of toys up to big bear in the summer. From there it was easy

I used to carry rain gear all the time.

Then realized I'm in southern california where I need it maybe 3% of the time. After getting caught in a terrible storm once without anything but summer gear...I figure I can just deal if it happens lol

Lol what was that, 2 months? Have you worn it riding yet? I'd give it a shot first before selling it.

like you said....if it works it works lol. I dig it

Last time I went to GMR was over 5 years ago so I'm sure it's different, but wasn't too bad when I went. some traffic but nothing crazy, and no one stupid. Granted we did start up it at around 7-8AM so it was a very early day.

If you plan to go, let me know. I could be down to join in with you.

Riding up to Santa Barbara today from San Diego...traffic reports are saying it'll take me 5 hours :( but since i'll be on the bike that should shorten it at least a little bit. maybe.

I gave in a spent money on real panniers for once. I usually buy cheap pannier racks and then rig up some knock off pelican cases using hardware store u-bolts. Now I have nice, lockable, easily detachable panniers to keep my stuff dry and haul groceries home from the store. The racks detach from the bike entirely in about a minute for when I want to have nothing extra on the bike.

Did a little riding with s buddy. He has less than 40 miles on his V-strom so far. Very sweet bike. Tomorrow we will probably swap bikes a but, just to see what each is like.

What the fuck is wrong with people. Do all people that are from FL drive like fucking idiots?

I almost was run over slowly this morning, by some idiots trying to nudge by me. The dent I put on their hood was huge! Double fisted hammer down!

yeah so I was basically pushed off the road at extreme slow speed by some old fucker Floridians.

Yeah I live up a 1 lane forest service road that in the middle of the forest. The road is just one big series of switchbacks, and unfortunately Floridians have brought their big ass pocket book and bullshit driving up here.
It’s not a lot of traffic by any means, but over the years I realized the majority that are up here, are from Miami or south FL areas.

“I get it, you don’t know how to drive in the mtns. You don’t know the country rules, and fuck it the rules don’t apply to your rich ass.”

I did roost the ever loving shit out of them as I was forced into the ditch. I bet he liked that on his shiny new dodge.
