    Lighting up this thread again.....
I don’t see where you say that you replaced the actual KS?

Sorry, bro. My tittle or somewhere in this thread misled you to believe that I did replace the KS. I did not. What I replaced was the harness. See pic on post 7. Do you have to replace the actual sensor on yours?

Just got P0333 today so not sure what I am going to do. Have list of parts for DIY but maybe AAA will cover under comprehensive.

if you do most of your work on your trk, it is easy to do and you will save some coin. Just take your time and double-check yourself as you go.

If it’s rat damage, I’m going the insurance route. If not, your route. Waiting door dealer confirmation of cause as I type.

Truck is in the shop now. Confirmed rodent damage. Pay deductible and a bit more to replace serpentine belt. Driving a Yaris for a week. I could fit it in the bed of the Taco!

Took a week in the dealer shop but the lights are out and the truck is home. Total bill to replace $15 harness was $2600, almost all labor.

Now how to guarantee it won’t happen again?

Mild zombie thread bump just to say thank you to OP for detailing this! I am taking this task on in my crowded ass garage in the cold right now and having replaced the camshaft position sensor once due to rodents I suspected this P0333 was from the bastards as well. Waiting on gaskets and the harness to hopefully knock out! I guess I need to put the belt and fan and all that back on because I forgot to relieve the fuel pressure before starting

We're working on this now. So, just how do you access the harness clip on the back of the engine and then how do you disconnect it? I can't get my fat hands back there!

*edit. Nevermind. My wife used a small socket to compress one clip holding the harness to the engine, broke one clip with a long handled pick, then the harness was loose enough to disconnect from the main wiring harness

Finally got all the parts due to holiday and crazy COVID shipping, and finished install today. Started up and... now it's throwing p0328 and p0333 so I've gained one TC! I've been clearing the codes with my ultragauge but they keep coming back. Anyone have any ideas? For whatever reason, I couldn't remove the two pipes above the harness and had to snake it in so maybe it's not seated well enough.

Edit: I have a dumbass theory now, as it appears the end that was chewed off of mine is black and white wired while OP has red and green. Not sure if that's switched for some dumbass reason on a Prerunner but I'm gonna go tear it all down again and try my dumbass theory. Will report back for future people.

Edit 2: Yep, dumbass theory worked. So apparently 82219-0C010 - wire sensor is not the right part for a v6 Prerunner, even though the eBay listing I bought it through said it was a match. Not sure what the correct part number is as I just spliced my chewed up harness with a connector from the new harness.

We just did this repair over the New Year holiday. After watching a couple of YouTube videos :
    https://youtu.be/pRwMXzAH19w

    https://youtu.be/pIbeoMpGxEc

The second video is about head gaskets but it was useful to watch the complete intake removal

we purchased the wire harness, gaskets and coolant and it went fairly well. We made our own youtube video for it (and another repair we had to do. It's not a how-to but maybe some of the images will help someone else

Fix it. As soon as possible. Back in the day we could turn the distributor back to retard the ignition eliminating engine knock. Can't do that with these new fangled machines. That knock sensor tells the computer to retard (or advance) the ignition as needed. Without it the computer won't adjust the ignition appropriately and you run the risk of melting a piston. At a minimum the computer with throw you into an over rich gas mixture to compensate and you'll be getting about 5 mpg with excess gasoline washing the cylinder walls and getting into your oil.

Read how, watch all the videos. If you decide to do it yourself take LOTS of photos and video as you dissemble the intake system. Find a friend who is mechanically inclined and ask for assistance.

like I tell my kids, "If you can't figure out how to fix it yourself you'll have to find the money to pay someone who can" They both do as much car repair as they can these days.....
