Why aren't as many fullsize trucks LT as compared to compact or midsize trucks?

I have seen a few bad ass fullsize LT trucks but not as many.

Is there an adavantage for having a smaller/lighter truck for LT?

    Just curious. Thanks!

Maybe its because the Full Size trucks are wider and heavier :notsure:

thats actually a good question. i dont think its because they are wider, the wider they are the more stability which is why all the LT tacos are so wide. Heavier is also questionable, trophy trucks weigh A LOT and you see them flying at around 100 mph offroad. If you look at short course race trucks they weigh a lot less but are still flying, so i would say it just depends on application really

I was thinking the heavier truck would be harder on all components which would require LT kits to be super expensive or else things would be breaking more often.

Also, full size trucks are generally more expensive and many people may not want to pay a bunch of money for at truck and then run it hard/beat it up.

Although, the LT tundras and chevys I've seen haul ass and sound awesome.

yeah i see what you mean, i did a research paper on trophy trucks and i read that like short course trucks use like a 2.5 shock where tropy trucks use a 3.0-4.0 shock and TT's weigh about double a short course truck so its definitely more expensive.

But when it comes to LT it's all expensive whether you take a Taco or an f150

The main reason is going to be $$$$. It costs a lot more to do a full size truck

    ^^^^^^Like he said.

Bigger shocks, more expensive suspension kits, bigger tires, high $$ axles, high $$ transmissions, and oh yeah you need a high $$$ motor to push it all around.

Haha no. I learned a lot and will build it full tilt from the start next time instead of piecemeal like this build. Live and learn.

    To much to list!
Over on DR you will see a lot of 1500 silverado's, couple f-150s, and a couple F-100's. Personally I wish I would have built a silverado. More power, more room and if you do the suspension right they can handle it. Adam Householder had a silverado named the blue whale. Thing haul'd ass.

They may be more but not that much more and as for weight. 2" tubing is only about .3lbs per foot heaver then 1.75" tubing used in tacomas. Times that by roughly 200-250 feet that's only 60-75lbs. Some kits are crazy expensive for the silverados like Muzzulla offroad or BMS which are around $5000-6000 but for a tacoma you have Richer racing, Camburg race kit around the same. But then you have your lower priced kits for silverados such as BBR, BTF, mullen fab. but same goes with tacoma engage, TC, and camburg. So if you really think about it they are not that much more expensive. But then you come to rear suspension. Most tacoma guys go leafs for a prerunner or links when planning to race. Where many silverado and ford guys will just link them cause they will handle better then any leaf they can run.

Then if your saying more expensive tires. Most run a 35 or 37" tire. While most tacoma guys run 33 or 35"s. A lot of it will have to depend on wheel size. But there really not that much more as well. Just heavier. Many guys racing will run a ford 9" in both a full size or midsize. weight will not be much different as well. But price will depending on how fancy of setup you go with. Then motor and trans. Many guys will run stock motor and trans until they blow up. But even then in a chevy you can bump to a th400 which is a very solid and proven trans. They are not that expensive if you can find 1 used and get it rebuilt. Motor hp 95.5-04 3.4l is around 190hp I dont know exactly what a 05+ 4.0 pushing but guessing around 235. A chevy silverado 5.3 is around 285.
