    I vote the 2nd Gen clean title option. Great vehicle. Just check the frame for rot.

    I could buy a brand new Tacoma without borrowing but y'know Im also trying to save money for a down payment on an apartment or house so maybe I'll get something older for now

    ive decided to go with a clean title 2nd gen instead, looking at a 2013 with full service history tomorrow. thanks everyone for their input

    just bought a clean 2013 with 167,000 km, unfortunately the clean 3rd gens were out of budget

    Hopefully its already had its full service at that mileage. Unless able to do it yourself, your headed for more bucks.

    its going to the dealership for a service - brake fluid, power steering fluid, coolant, transmission fluid. Probably needs brakes or maybe its just that the fluid is old, haven't bothered checking the brakes, dealership will inspect and tell me anyway. Needs a few more things, trying to get everything done as soon as possible so I can go wheeling while its still summer.

    Before getting it really dirty, you might want to rust proof the frame, and chassis on these trucks if in the rust belt, or in a salty climate. I have not seen metal rust as quickly as on these tacoma's.

    Yeah that's a good idea, the frame is surprisingly in very good condition, want to keep it that way.
