Rci transmission skid with factory pro slid

Hey folks, are the rci skids supposed to come with longer rear bolts to use the factory TRd pro skid? I'm currently attempting to install the skid and the bolts won't tighten down. Can I pick up longer bolts at Home Depot?

any help is appreciated

 

Mine didn't come with it and I had to call RCI and they mailed it out to me quick.

I also enlarged the mounting holes on the front of the RCI skid so that it will mate flushed with the TRD skid.

 

Anyone know if the above guidance holds true with an OEM Off-Road skid / splash guard (i.e. not a PRO skid)?


Has anyone done an install with an OEM skid?

Can someone please ID/explain what hardware should’ve been included if I requested the “additional hardware for install with OEM engine skid”? (Sounds like longer bolts at a minimum, but wondering if I need to pick up some nylon spacers for this install as well)

Backstory: I’m 95% sure rci shorted me the hardware to install my trans skid with an OEM engine skid/splash guard. Due to the packaging not explaining the differences in required hardware for install with OEM engine skid vs. RCI engine skid AND the instructions on-line not having guidance on how to install with OEM skid I’m not 100% sure.
I’m sure @RCI-Offroad will make it right eventually, but I also recently moved to California and would like to get these cat guards installed ASAP. If the only thing stopping me is a trip to the hardware store then I’m gonna try and make it work this weekend.

I clicked the option for the extra hardware to work with my TRD skid, I was shorted as well. RCI mailed some out after a few emails to them.

If you are in a rush the hardware can be found at any big box store. Measure the thickness of RCI trans skid + the nylon spacer (eyeballed it looked around a 1/2”) add that to your stock skid bolt length. With the calculated length get the same pitch metric 10.9 grade bolt, nylon spacer, and a washer. Bingo, bango, bongo.

The current OEM skid only setup is (from top down): frame>Engine skid>bolt (no nylon spacer or washer). Sounds like spacer goes against the frame, but where’d you slip in the washer?

Also, any experience with the weird little hook-tab on the aft/passenger side of the OEM splash guard. Hopefully doesn’t afffect the install. I’ll probably just bend it if it does

 

Yup, sure did!

 

You got it! Right in line with what you are thinking. Frame > spacer > trans skid > Engine Skid > Washer/bolt. Washer probably isn’t necessary but it came with the RCI hardware kit.

Be sure to loosen up the forward OEM engine skid bolts to drop the engine skid a bit. It helps when you slip the trans skid between the spacer and the engine skid.
