Blows my mind that you’re allowed to open up an engine outdoors.

Ever seen this shit? Non serviceable rack per ford, but I cracked it open and one $30 belt later I was good to go. Still not sure why it happened though…

Screw it, send those big ass trucks through the woods! Nothing more puckering than risking a nice daily driver!

I have done motor swaps on the ground next to the Service Drive with customers and new car sales peeps watching because none of my covered stalls are open, believe me when I say that I'm completely and extremely thorough with cleanliness when reassymbling and buttoning things up a repair. If working in open covered stalls doesn't meet your approval... well then, some of the trail repairs out in the open desert I've help complete will make you dye your hair blue and turn you into a liberal snowflake with the disapproval of not being inside a Closed Service Facility

No man it wasn’t a dig against you, I’m sure your work is meticulous. Im just paranoid. The same way I’d be if I had to fix something I broke out in the desert.

the point I was making is I was just surprised ford or other motor companies are okay with the risk of it being exposed like that, mainly because of comebacks. not all technicians are meticulous like you.

    lol, right on!!

Been doing this for a long time and not once being in a open facility effected my repairs. With the exception of freeezing or sweating my balls off depending on what the outside temps are

Everything about this reminds me why I do not miss turning wrenches for a living especially in the dealership.

City Utility Fleet truck, idles 24/7. Carbon built up over time. The tops of the Valves and stems were all covered in an insane amount of carbon as well.

Quality Oil Catch Cans for the Ecoboost helps a lot with preventing this condition, especialy with the 1st. Gen Ecoboost

I’m always amazed at what stupid things we collectively purchase. That being said, I’m happy when they spend it back with me!
