I have an 07 tacoma with the v6. I'm coming up on 195k miles so I read the PCV is a good preventative maintenance item to do. I was under the impression that you are supposed to bottom it out and then torque it. It threaded in fine by hand and then got tight (I assumed threads were dirty) so I ratcheted it down until it was flush. It took well over the 20ft lbs of torque to get it down that far. I know, big dummy, I realize now it torques before it bottoms out with threads exposed. Now that being said, the valve cover isn't cracked, it runs fine, isn't throwing codes or anything. Do I need to worry about anything internally? Or if everything runs fine and I have no external leaks or cracks should I even worry about it or just leave it in for the long haul permanently threaded.

    Thank you for any responses

If the valve cover didn't crack you're fine. It's not long enough to bump into something inside there..

If that was my truck I think I'd try applying a very small amt of a very thin penetrant, wait 24 hours, then attempt to gradually, carefully back it out of the hole. Better to do that now, than trying to do it 40, 60, or 80K down the line when hundreds of heat/cool cycles + surface oxidation have locked it in even tighter.

Your probably right that would be the safer bet! the only thing I worry about at the moment, because it is my daily driver, is stripping that hole out and then it not be drivable while I wait on and change the valve cover. If I ever do go to repair though I will definetly try to slowly take it with penetrate like you said!
