Lol! I like them but not that much! Can’t imagine chasing parts. Kinda what I ran into with the Trooper and that was sold here. Toyota is even starting to discontinue parts for my 1st Gen Taco. Had to get the throttle body rebuilt, since it is no longer available.

I had a very bad experience with an Isuzu Trooper. I had an '89 with the GM 2.8' V6. It weighed 2 tons and had like 120 HP. The 5 speed transmission and 4X4 transfer case were a one piece unit, which blew up outside Chicago on a cross-country drive and cost $3K just to fix what broke and get it back on the road. A new one would have been $5K, and this was 1995! I spent a week in a sketchy motel waiting for it to be repaired and get back on my way. After that, the power brake booster went wonky and the brakes would apply themselves randomly. Also once I drove it on a mild Forest Service road and that was enough to damage the steering column to the point where a rebuild kit was required. I like the driving position I guess, and it looked okay with aftermarket wheels and tires. That's all the positive things I can say about it, but others obviously had better experiences.Troopercrop.jpg

Okay, looking at the picture after all these years, I have to admit the ground clearance and approach/departure angles do look pretty good. LS swap one of these and you might be onto something!

Wasn’t there a big issue with Troopers rolling over?

Someone at the launch event was told the headlights were interchangeable and plug and play. So you could get the mid grade version and put the round headlights in. That’s cool if true.

Ours was an ‘02, my mom bought it new, I bought it from her. Ran it up to 130K, put a starter and egr valve in it, shocks/struts and that is it. Then GM auto trans gave up the ghost, $4-5K to fix…it might be worth $1000. So we donated it, fetched $850 at auction for Vehicles for Veterans. While not much of a donation, better than nothing. It did serve us well for 12 years, or at least my wife. I rarely drove it.

I always liked the the Mitsubishi MightyMax and Dodge Ram50. No idea how reliable they were and they probably rusted like a Toyota. They of been designed by the same people who designed the Trooper.

Awesome. It’s amazing how well we can remember stupid commercials but not important things like birthdays and anniversaries. The TV has brainwashed us. :D

Ya get what ya pay for. Birthday and anniversary budgets aren't on par with advertising.

Almost all the small trucks were neat back then, even the Comanche.

Yes there was a lot of compact trucks back then and they were all cool. I often forget about the Comanche, I did see a fair amount of them on the road. I'd say it's my favorite Jeep vehicle produced in my lifetime. J10s are cool, I like the cab over Jeep trucks, those most likely ceased production before my existence, I'll have to check on the J10 timeline I think the Wagoneer was still in production. Plenty of cool Wranglers out there from the 80's 90's & 00's. The Comanche tops them all as a base vehicle.

Obviously there was Nissan, Toyota, Ranger, S-10, S-15, Isuzu, Mazda, Mitsubishi/Chrysler compacts, I'll throw in the Dodge Dakota as well more of a midsize. The availability of cool small trucks in America was probably one the best things about the 80's and 90's.

Lol, girl I was screen dooring in High School had a BF with one of these in silver. I thought they only came in silver as that was the only color I ever saw one in.

This truck has triggered some memories haha.

Stopped by the local 'Yota dealer yesterday to pick up a couple of parts. They seem to think the G4 Pro will be in the high 50's.

The guy also told me that there is a LOT of excitement and buzz around the G4. Said he's never seen this much anticipation before in his career.

He also mentioned that they have been doing a ton of warranty work on G3 Tundras. Something to do with the transfer case.

The G3 Tundra is a hot mess, that makes me even more cautious of any of Toyotas new TNGA platform vehicles....
