2015 tacoma v6 4.0. Had a bad ac compressor that was blowing my ign 1 fuse everytime I switched on the blower. So I replaced my ac compressor, condensor, belt tensioner, idler pully's, serpentine belt, alternator, and battery. Truck has 300,000 miles on it. Just finished recharging it all up and fired it up and everything seems to be working great with the ac now. No more fuse blowing. But my battery light is now on. I have tested the battery which is good. Alternator is putting 14v to battery at idle. Checked all the fuses. They are good. All grounds appear clean and tight. Battery cables look good and are tight. Read a post about the little white wire coming off the alternator being the sending wire. It looks good no visible damage. Anyone have an idea on where to look?

Usually the connector to the alternator has a broken or corroded wire leading into it.

Warning light goes out with the alternator connector unplugged and key on. Testing connector with key on, nice bright light on test light on pins for light green and gray wire. Light very dimly lit on white wire pin.

Interesting, are you sure you got your colors right? I would expect the light to light dimly on the L (Warning Light) terminal (Pin 4 (Grey)) and brightly on Pin 2 (Light Green) and Pin 1 (White).

Just double checked myself and the white wire is for sure the one that lights the test light dimly. I have strong light on test light on green and Grey wire pins.

Is this with the alternator plugged in or unplugged?

Maybe check at the EB1 connector?
    Possibly some corrosion happening there?
    Or poor pin figment?

This is with the green connector pulled off the alternator, key in on position.

Doesn't make sense to me but asuming you are correct you seem to have a problem with the white wire between the ALT-S fuse (7.5A) and the alternator.

Okay. I will try to look at that white wire at the fuse. I am pretty sure this new to us truck has some crazy stuff going on electrically as I also have a maintenence required light that I can't get to reset either.

Had some more time after work today to do some more testing on truck. I unhooked green connector from alternator and eb1 white connector from fuse panel. I have good continuity from green connector pin to eb1 pin on light green wire and Grey wire. But no continuity on white wire between connector pins. So it appears I have a break in the white wire somewhere between connectors. Tugged on white wire at both connectors and wire feels firmly attached. Pins look clean. What would be my best course of action from here? Do I just start untaping and removing the flexible wire loom on that huge bundle of wires that the white wire runs in with between the connectors? Or is there a better idea/approach?

So the white wire is open between EB1 Pin 5 and G2 Pin 1 at the alternator?

Yes. That is correct. Just looks like a nightmare trying to expose the whole length of the wire. But I am guessing that is the next step.

If your on the correct pins and it's open with no aparent damage at either end or to the harness itself the yea your gona have to get into the harness and see where it's corroded/broken.
If I recall correctly there's not a whole lot of wires in that harness.

Just wanted to thank everyone for all their help. You guys are the best. I was able to expose the wiring from eb1 to green alternator connector and found the corrosion on the white wire about a foot up from the green connector as the wires exited a very tightly taped area coming out of the wire loom closest to the green alternator connector. Thanks again

Thank you for coming back and telling us how you solved it and that you did solve it.

Some people come, ask for direction and we never hear whether they fixed it or not.

It records it for future reference :)
