Congrats. Sorry it wasn't on your terms. Good luck sorting out the medical issue. Medical insurance could be the elephant in the room, so best of luck getting that sorted. With your revised salary, you'll likely qualify for "Obama Care" insurance. Cobra insurance adds up fast!

 

This, though if you are able to get on Medicare then look for a supplement/replacement plan as well. PM me if you need a little guidance.

I found the rear flares do not need any extra clips/screws like the front. I should be able to use two OEM holes per side for the front flares.
I also used the protectant I bought on all the plastic surfaces in the truck (dash, doors, kick panels, center console). Came out really nice, not greasy or really shiny.

Now maybe I should start on adding sound deadening (floor, back wall, add to the doors).

FWIW, my FIL just recently got forced into an early retirement. Granted his wasnt bc of a medical issue, however unbeknownst to his employer he was actually battling something serious. He was actually able to work out some unemployment etc and the rest kind of just fell into place. The silver lining is he is now able to focus on recovery and doesnt have the added pressure of the day job so to speak. Could be a blessing in disguise? Just trying to look at the bright side of a shit situation.....

Also if your employer let you go BECAUSE of a medical issue, isnt that against the law??? Either way, hope you get it sorted and things work out in your favor.

 

First backpacking trip of the year in the Catskills! 12 mile round trip, about 2000ft vertical. Lots of scrambling over rocks. I keep forgetting how rocky the hikes are out here compared to the PNW. One spot was a near vertical climb which was super fun with 30lb on my back. Photo of my buddy who is 5'6" for scale. There was a super weird tree at our camp that was a birch, but also not a birch? Super weird!

Also, hammock camping is the way to go. Mine is a very budget setup, time to upgrade!

 

Kiddo was supposed to have soccer camp today.

Canceled because of the rain. Even if it stops, the fields are soaked and unplayable.

 

It's a mess out there!

 

He's supposed to also have soccer practice at 6:30, so we'll see what they say about that.

 

Thanks for the suggestions. I get my medical insurance through the Mrs. She works for the local school district. I’m currently on short term disability and will file unemployment. Retirement was going to happen at sometime; just didn’t think at 56. Thankfully I’ve been saving into the 401k a healthy percentage so at least I can work the rule of 55 in my favor.

Yea they put out some mailers in my area for a locked in price for 3 yrs and a prepaid gift card if you stayed for 3 months. We have had it almost a year now without a single *knocks on wood* issue.
