Well, I did have a dude from SoCal move in a few months back. Went over and talked to him his first week here. Said he planned to put a fence around the house. I told him to look around the neighborhood and see how out of place that would be. I think I said something about it being a dick move. My Dad's from LA and I understand the fenced off houses, but not in North West Arkansas or in the neighborhood I live in. He nixed the fence, but did cut half the trees on the property down, I guess to get a better look at the highway.

Maybe I was the shit neighbor, but wasn't in the mood for CA silliness.

We have a neighbor who has profane political signs, multiple, and mows his lawn with his gun on his hip. Needless to say we don’t talk much.

No political signs, much less profane ones, but I just finished mowing my yard with a gun on my hip.

:oldglory:It’s sad that the most American thing you can do is have a gun on your hip. I usually try and make someone’s life better by volunteering, donating, giving back to the community.

I do that too. Also usually with a gun on my hip. As a matter of fact, I did that before mowing my lawn.

I don't typically because people seem to have irrational reactions to gun ownership. I actually know a woman who qualified for the US Olympic team in shooting sports but doesn't tell her co-workers because she doesn't want the stigma that seems to come with competitive shooting. And that's in Arkansas.

I promise I'm not trying to be antagonistic but I don't care for people acting like someone is crazy for owning or carrying a gun. I will acknowledge that someone with a bunch of profane political signs probably has some issues but there are plenty of people who carry every day without incident.

Neighbor down the street has a sign facing the road with 4x4 posts into the ground, made from 4x8 plywood, painted and with its own lighting that reads "Trump 2016" that has been amended to be 2020, then 2024.

When we first moved in we helped him chase down his donkey and sheep (singular) as they escaped across the 5 others neighbors yards. He even broke his thumb catching it.

Regularly we hear every form of firearm going off. sounds like everything from black powder to pistol doing plates.

He parks his camaro on the front yard facing the road.

His kids are constantly running their motorbikes and go karts around the yard.

    .

And they are super nice and never had a single issue, and I'm somewhat jealous I cannot do plates on my own property. Granted, I'm probably the "hippy" of the neighborhood with my kids Prius in the driveway and me running my electric lawn mower.

Sadly "Taco" the donkey passed away last year.

gun owner myself, although I also don't really tell folks.

sadly it has been years since I have been out shooting. I did debate getting my CCW but frankly have not felt the need.

Remember as a kid at church one Sunday, we bent down to kneel and pray. Parents friend was a cop, when he bent over I saw his .38 on his hip, wow was that cool, I was about 7 years old.

Grandpa told me not to trust a man who owns only one sheep. That advice has served me well.

I always mow with something on my hip. Usually loaded with snake shot. Killed 2 Copperheads so far this year.
Wife came across a Smooth Earth Snake this weekend. Poor guy scattered as fast as he could for the tall grass.

lol... oh man... the lawn mowing story is at the bottom of this, but you might need some backstory.

so in 2016 purchased my house. down the hill is 3 properties. 2 of those have houses and 1 just had a shop and power. one day I'm working in my garage and a truck rolls up my driveway, and a guy gets out. walks up mentions that he owned the 3 pieces of property and just sold 2 of them. and only now owns the piece with the shop and would like to buy rights to water access so he can sell his property as a buildable piece of land. after the normal chit chat, he explains that there is a shop, and he wants to sell that property too. he asks if I'm not willing to allow access to water if I'd be interested in the shop property. so we go down to the shop look around a bit. I text my wife to grab the 5k I had and bring it to me. I'm about to low ball the hell out of this guy offer him 10k right now for a piece of property that is dead in the middle of 2 houses with no water access and he told me neither of the other neighbors are willing to let him have access. offer him some money and he says he will think about it.

since I'm already down there I figure I'll go introduce myself to the neighbors. I see one neighbor working in his garage on a truck wave and chat a moment. I get the weird slightly standoffish vibe like something is up. don't think much of it, since I try to keep to myself, and I wouldn't want someone looking around my shop space either. walk over to the next neighbor's home, knock chat a bit we seem to be getting along fine. i mention that I recently moved into the house above them and that the owner of the shop property and I had met earlier, and I'd looked over his shop and met the other neighbor. instant demeanor change. come to find out that neither of the neighbors got along with the guy who owned the shop property and he use to own all of that property and had on several occasions tried to pit the neighbors against each other to try and get the other to give him water access after he sold off the major chunks of the property and basically landlocked himself in. about 6 mo. later there was a full blown fist fight with the neighbors and the one right next to me said he had enough and moved and sold the house. the family that moved in after they left is wonderful, and their son and my daughter play all the time.

though that new neighbor. One weekend they are out of town and my father-in-law takes it upon himself to have my brother-in-law cut his grass, to show how good of a job he would do with his greens keeping skill. my father-in-law lives around the corner as well. so, one day I'm in my yard and my neighbor goes off about how rude he found it that I cut his grass, and then kept pushing to let my son mow it for them. How really rude it was to ask for a tip or something since I had my kid come over and cut his lawn without permission, and to keep texting and asking about it. I'm super confused, keep saying there is no way my son would be cutting his yard at the time my son was under a year, and my daughter was like 4 or 5. anyway come to find out that my father-in-law had been over and being who he is talked about letting my brother-in-law mow his yard, with his wife who said let me talk to my husband about that. my father-in-law is the sort of person who thinks he is an excellent lawn keeper, but hos yard looks like crop circles and high spots and missed areas. anyway, i was super excited to find out that had gone down. and that i was now involved in an argument with a neighbor about something I wasn't involved in. but took me weeks to understand why. he kept getting so heated. guess my father-in-law was still asking to cut his lawn after. first off, I would be super pissed if someone cut my lawn without my permission. and then to be constantly talked to about letting some kid cut my yard would be a good way to piss me off too. there is still some rub between the neighbor and I due to that, but I think he still thinks I'm the one who cut the grass. but i have a few times mentioned how sorry i am for my wife's family's disrespect of neighborly rules.

Can relate, though a different subject I'm sober but I am careful whom I tell about it. Made that mistake once and the person's relative was killed by a drunk driver.

Guns don't bother me, I'd be licensed if I wasn't banned.
