Tried searching but couldn’t really find anything that really answered my question.

My understanding is that the maintenance required light comes on every 5k miles, regardless of anything. It’s just a simple 5,000 mile counter that goes off every 5,000 miles. Does it interact with the maintenance log/reminders on the head unit in any way?

If not, what does the maintenance log do? Will it send a reminder through the dash when it comes due or close to due? Does the head unit display a reminder? Or do I have to manually access it periodically to see how close I am to triggering the mileage interval I set?

    Thanks for the help.

If i understand what you are asking correctly; Pretty sure you get a little yellow exclamation point "warning" on the dash. It starts flashing at first to let you know that you are getting close and then goes solid when you exceed the clocked mileage. Stays solid until you reset it.

Yep, exactly. Is that actually linked to anything?

What would be nice is if it triggered that alert based on the maintenance reminders I set on the head unit, but I don’t think it works that way.

It’s every 5k, just use it as a tire rotation reminder on the 5k interval and oil change + tire rotation on the 10k intervals. There might be a techstream wizard who could program that differently, but I’ve never heard of it.

Thanks. I was looking for that under the maintenance chapter in my manual and couldn’t find it.
