I sold a 2006 Tundra for my recently-purchased 2020 Tacoma. I like that the Tacoma is easier to park (which pleases my wife), I am averaging 22 MPG, and that the red color matches my wife's RAV4.

I don't like the plastic interior, and that I see styrofoam in the front fender when I open the door. The Tacoma seems a good truck, but it does not approach the quiet ride, the smooth acceleration, the stability and the fit-and-finish of the old Tundra.

When I bought the Tundra used in 2006 with 6000 miles, I wanted 4WD but did not get it. I wanted a lighter color, but got black. It was a screamin' deal and that is why I bought. I am 63 years old, and the Tacoma is the first vehicle that I have bought based on the color and features that I wanted. Not just on the best price. My hope is that this will be the last truck I buy. I must say there is still a bit of my heart in that 2015 Tacoma with 30K miles I looked at - glorious truck except for the frame rust!

Never owned a new vehicle (aside from a deal on an ATV), and probably never will.

The OP's post reminds me of what my wife says to me all the time: "I love you, but you're a pain in the ass".

Lol, no. I decided I wanted a manual transmission truck, and toyota makes the tacoma. If I could get a new manual tundra I'd be there. But, as you know, that has never happened in tundra history and will never happen. So, hello tacomer, nice to meet you.

I damn near bought a 2017 Tundra TRD Pro. It was certified pre owned but had more mileage on it than I was comfortable with. I bought a Tacoma instead….second one I’ve owned. Enjoy the truck!

I'll have my 2007 for sale soon, original owner. Kidding. The tundra is great, I've loved it. It's just 16.5 years old, and I can still get good money for it, so I thought it was time for the switch as I don't need the interior space I once did. I also did not want the new design, so I am in a 2023.

I was torn between the SR I ordered and an in-stock MT TRD Off Road. If I could have gotten an SR Manual, I would have. I wanted the SR more than I wanted the manual. I also love my Tacoma, but I still think about the other truck. My trade-in was a MT Civic Sport. I miss shifting my own gears. Besides that, it’s a really engaging vehicle to drive. Coarse, unrefined and mechanical. Exactly the kind of vehicle I like. Congratulations!

Funny because the option of manual transmission is pretty much the only reason I am buying a tacoma also. Wife said we need a new truck since my 96 ram is aging poorly, I Google "what trucks still offer manual transmission" and the only actual truck to come up was the tacoma. They filled in some crap options with the gladiator and bronco, but being a mechanic I know way better than to pick those two options!

Lol. Half joking but half truthfull as well. I don't like anyone driving my vehicles. I don't even like her driving her vehicle ha. No finesse, it's hard on the gas, hard on the brakes, hard on the gas, slam the brakes. I can't take it and it's dealt with by her staying in her vehicle. In 16.5 years, she drove my tundra 4 times, maybe 5. I'm actually surprised the rav4 has done well with her, she's a vehicle killer. Going since 2013 and just one wheel bearing
Too true, the tacoma is the only option. A 96 ram, I'd say you have done well with it. Mileage?

It only has around 135k but the issue with older rams is they don't like aftermarket electronics (major engine sensors) and they no longer make OEM ones. It took 3 brands before finding a crankshaft position sensor that it would actually run well with. Left me stranded when the first one went, kept the third brand in the truck along with tools so when the second one went I installed on the side of the street it died on. That's when the wife decided it was time to go, just glad she was fine with me getting another manual.

My wife is a car killer too. Since I have been with her she has killed 2 automatic transmissions. She would put the cars in reverse and not stop all the way to put it in drive. That's like a bomb going off in your transmission everyday until it shits out. The mechanic could tell both times what she was doing. I have had serious fights with her about it. Don't get me started about her tail gaiting, excessive speed, and driving alongside semi's, texting ect.... Good thing I love the hell out of her!

To your original sentiment..."I love my truck"...Refreshing to hear someone say something nice...it's usually a lot of whining on here, some justified, some just whining. Anyway, Thanks

As a first time Toyota owner coming from owning Hondas and Jeeps, I can also confidently say I love my Tacoma.

Here's to our tune remaining the same in 10 or 20 years!
