I don't trust Rock Auto...

 

Save the money on the sway bar link and go aftermarket. (MevoTech or Moog)
Spend the extra cash you saved on the interlock.

 

Already ordered the part. If I still have the truck in five years, it's basically getting a full restoration.

 

Just replaced those on Shawn's car the other day.

Same place my left busted earlier this year. I just said f it and did both.

Mine does this once in a blue moon and since I'm the only one who drives it I haven't bothered to mess with it.

I technically didn't. My truck passed emissions with flying colors, but they can't put a safety sticker on it with sway bar like it is...

 

Not suggesting it but what if you were to remove the bar completely?

 

I have no idea, but some mechanics probably wouldn't notice. The truck creaks and groans a lot than it used to, but it does not handle any differently in its current condition...

 

You'll probably notice some of those noises gone when you get these done. I did. Had a little noise up front now and then and didn't get to chasing it yet. When I had the intermediate steering shaft issue I happened to notice the top of the driver's side link broke just like yours did.

 

Since the frame was replaced at no cost to me or my parents, everything I've put into the truck since then seems like chump change; I dropped over $550 on new radiator in March. The installed cost of the two sway bar thingies will come to $378. In total, that's less than a thousand dollars. Monthly payments on a used 3rd Gen, even with my credit, would probably be about $400 per month on a 5-year loan; I'd rather sink a bunch of money into a truck that's been off for over a decade and had $20K+ of recall work done...

 

Even when a vehicle gets old it averages 800-1200 a year to keep moving. Even if it hits hard one year. Can't buy anything for 1200 a year...plus you know the honest history of what you have.

 

And again, I have good credit, but interest rates absolutely suck!

 

That too but doesn't even get that far in my book.

You will be fine driving it until you get those links. I actually used aircraft safety wire to attach the swaybar to the LCA for a week on Shawn's car until his new parts came in.
