Very. Paid $2200 for the platinum warranty. They have done over $5k of warranty work on my truck and it would have likely cost even more if I was paying out of pocket. Almost regretted it because I never used it until around 100k but I was very glad I got it.

Very happy that I got mine, 10 years/100k miles, I paid $1500. Only warranty I've ever purchased that only listed what it didn't cover, which was basically routine maintenance and tires. Only used once so far, I'd renew if I could when it expires but not possible.

10 yr/100k mile Toyota Platinum VSA purchased for $1,360. At the price my dealership wanted I said no (they don't even sell Toyota warranties in the SE Toyota Distributor area so that was a double no lol), but I shopped it outside the region and got what I felt was a fair deal. Happy I did it, and it's like insurance - good to know I have it and hope I never need it.

It's worth it to me. Even good companies pump out a lemon time to time. I've been there and was lucky I bought a manufacturer extended warranty. It paid for itself 3-4 times over in 65k miles. Best part was the loaners, road trip!

its like car insurance. if you need it and used it you'll be grateful that ya had it. if you never needed it you'll see is a waste of money.

for me, with all the electronics in new vehicles I'd buy one for piece of mind.

I see this mentioned all the time here as justification for spending money on these extended warranties. Yet I don’t recall 3rd Gen owners reporting large scale electronic component failures with these trucks? I think the dealer finance guys use this bogus excuse to scare folks into buying these warranties.

As some have already mentioned, you're buying very expensive insurance here. If that helps you sleep, then by all means do it. I prefer to self insure for stuff like this.

PS: the expression is "peace of mind" Piece of mind is a chunk of a brain. :)

That's not to say it won't. I will admit none of my issues were electronic related. But once that front timing cover started leaking, the warranty paid for itself. Let alone the other things they had to fix. Then again, I own an earlier model.

For $2k I got an additional 7 years. Probably never use it but it's a peace of mind.

    “You’re buying very expensive insurance”

Due to daily driving habits and peace of mind I chose a 6yr/125k mi warranty for less than $16.70/mo. First I ever did it. Make your own decisions.

It’s ironic though people seem to think it’s such a terrible purchase for a new truck. But betting many of them take a new truck and pay to:
Get a tune (that may compromise the warranty)
Lift the truck (that may compromise a warranty)
Replace perfectly new wheels with newer ones.
Replace all four new tires with bigger newer tires.
Replace all the chrome inside and out.
Replace perfectly good grills with a different grill.
Replace perfectly good tail lights with new tail lights (to get rid of chrome).
    Etc

it’s you’re truck and your money. Spend it in the manner that benefits you the most. All of these give you peace of mind. But only one has the potential to pay back.

Are you seriously equating the financial impact of an uninsured major car repair versus the financial impact of an uninsured major home damage repair? Please!

Extended warranty on my '94 Toyota 4x4 Pickup had transmission rebuilt twice along with plenty of other things fixed. It paid for itself several times over. Just paid $1795 for 10y/125k Platinum 0 deductible warranty from Jerry Johnson and couldn't be happier with his service and delivering as promised thus far.
