I got that one. Now apparently I need it for the Jshift too.

 

Yes that's the crawlbox. The j-shift OEM case is a vf1a.
See above picture. the tacoma spring below that is the one you want for the factory case. it goes inside of the factory shift spring on the side for the hi-lo shift rail.

a $4 dollar spring that will fit in an envelope, being shipped under 100 miles = $19.31 shipping. (I know lots of people do it, but Marlin seems to currently be the worst. Low Range used to be stupid about it till Trail Gear bought them.)

JBA headers ordered… because fuck it why not, sand blasted the rear axle today, paint tomorrow


98 should be back on the road by next weekend if the headers show up when they’re suppose to

Decided to say screw it, first coat of rust encapsulator on the axle
pinion seal has a small seep, and I plan on removing the axle shafts to replace backing plates and all that jazz, so this is just the housing being painted

 

I like spending people money haha

 

Update on the no crank no start issue.
Starter moter was...apart when I took it out after five hours of struggling.
New one went in in one hour, much better.
Still no crank.
Rechecked the wiring, I have 12v main cable to starter. However, the solenoid clip had fallen out.
Tried putting the clip back in, it feels very loose and won't stay in. Ziptied that sucker.
And it still won't even crank, I tried bypassing the starter relay, not even a click from the starter solenoid.
New pigtail is on order...so we shall see.
Glad this truck isn't my daily and I can just casually work on it.

 

FINALLY replaced the old, original springs on my girl. It was long overdue.





As you can see, the old, original set was really worn out.




The new set, General Springs Heavy Duty, is already a huge improvement.

Got some rain last night, got some water inside this morning. Only near this plug but the truck sat through the rain. Water was completely concentrated to under this heat shield thing and only in that circled spot. Pulled the flat part of the weatherstrip and noticed water sat under it too but only on the outside of the truck. She's gonna get the hose against the passenger door later today I'm thinking it is coming from that area. Everything forward and backward of that spot is bone dry.

Any ideas?

 

I know trucks after 1997 had some sealing issues under the windshield cowl cover, where the wiper linkages are and it appears exactly as the leak you're describing here does, pooling near that floor grommet.

That TSB was what I was fearing doing some research before, I'm not seeing any traces of water except at that area but the hose will tell all hopefully. Looks like a really fun job if that's the case...

 

Sure showed itself quick... thought it was the wiring harness grommet but its coming way up top in the corner. Looks like it'll be a fun time! Good thing I'm going to the shop to get the driveshaft rebuilt next week, might see what they want to do this as well.

 

I've tried everything and still haven't been able to fix it. Just moved to where it doesn't rain like I did

 

Moving to AZ in a few months, easy fix
