The campers are a different game. Lot of people are looking for good condition Chinooks and Sunraders. Lots of 4WD conversions and swaps onto newer trucks. But most are too far gone for that.

That's so crazy to me. My buddies were yanking em out of their first gen celicas and swapping in the 22

I'd imagine for how beefy that camper is anyone in their right mind would upgrade

I'm talking about the camper bodies. No one is keeping a 20R and most are going 5VZ, 22RE, turbo 3RZ, etc.

Sorry, I was just getting done re-reading your message and realizing I completely missed the point.

You're absolutely dead nuts, that body is worth 500 easy based off that one single picture alone IMO

In my first message I said most are too far gone for the body/shell to be usable. I'm just saying there is money in those campers under certain conditions.

That's a Chinook, those are known for being pretty sturdy, only 2 piece so usually the roofs don't leak barring any hail damage or something. But imma guess the interior is permafucked huh?

honestly the engine alone tempts me if it runs... purely because its so similar to the mercedes engine i would make it work without too much fussing around and ruining the ability to toss the og back in

You want a 20r, that's like a $50 engine haha. Not worth the effort of throwing away the rest of that garbage

I suppose they might be rare out there just given the fact that most of the vehicles they came in rotted away 25 years ago. But out here it's a throwaway engine because anybody that had one at least swapped in a 22R or a 22RE 15 years ago

The 20R head is becoming more desirable for building a 20R/22R hybrid for a little more power

The old mini compression bump, it's a good trick for the guys that are still running a carb. Kind of a pain for the guys who are running EFI since the EFI manifold doesn't fit on the 20r head

Did not know a KDSS was a factor in this. I have zero experience with a vehicle that has that.

You've probably seen this one then. Seems a bit steep for what it is, but ad states that price is OBO.

Ps, I've been spending some time in your area both golfing and exploring the Dog Valley area amd lakes. Let me know if you're ever up for a brew (5050 has been a favorite, but open for recommendations).

Not sure if it actually did have an effect or not as the measurements didn't change a bunch. It was just a concern of mine since it is a hydraulic system and I was worried that it was limiting downtravel with 3 tires on the ground.

My biggest question was around spring rates and people's experience. Now that you and @Speedytech7 have chimed in, I think I'm going to let the tuner do what they do and go with their advice of 600lb springs. Worst case scenario I don't like it and have it rebuilt for a 3rd time. :spending:

I have 700lb springs and no bumper or winch. Roads can be stiff but not too uncomfortable with the adjustable dampers. I would sort of agree you would want 650s. I wish I had 650s since I never plan on adding weight in the front

Edit: also note I have no idea how much KDSS would impact either

I think 650's would be perfect all things considered. Probably going to go with the 600's for a couple reasons though.

    1) the CO's come stock from the factory with 600's so I don't have to pay for new springs or tune (but still inherit 700's that I already paid for and now can't use).

    2) the tuner is reputable and at some point I have to trust they they know what they are doing. Every fiber of me wants to go with 650's but I'm not a suspension expert and have to trust someone that is.
