Extended axle install

    anyone have experience doing the TC extended axle install for 4wd? I've read the directions over a few times and it seems that is going to be the hardest part of the LT install

    You have to use a huge press to break the snap ring on the CVs. If you dont have access to one then have TC do yours for you.

    yeah I was reading that in the directions. Luckily my friends dad has a 20 ton press

    total choas kit,glassworks, 17in robbie gordons, , allpro bumpers,hids,lightforce,king coilovers and triple bypass,dmz spring under kit,
    just make sure when you reinstall the new axle in to the old ends,that the c clip snaps in fully,i had one axle try coming apart on me... no bueno,other than that there not too bad also i think it helped to cut the axle as close as you can to the outers to help with rotating it to get the ballz out.... ive got pics if you need any

    I tried a 20 ton press with no luck. Took most of a 50 ton press to get my axles apart.

    That's not a bad option. The jarring from the strike could do wonders to pop stuff loose if done at the proper angle. I'm assuming you had a vice bolted to a table to hold the axle?

    My axle was dead straight in the press, which of course is the orientation where it would have the most strength.

    I have a buddy that owns a bus company. Just swung by his place and used his air-over-hydraulic setup. It's way too big to move.

    Might be worth finding a driveline shop in your area if you have trouble with the BFH approach.

    well I can't get the inner CV star off the axle so I can't get past like step 4. We spent a good few hours trying to remove it. Trying it again today

    Remove the C clip and use a pulley puller to slide the tripod off the end of the axle.

    C clip was removed and the pulley puller kept slipping off because not enough surface for them to grab on to. I have them at a shop right now. He's gonna call and give me a price before he does them. He said he's done a TC axle before.

    I also just talked to James at the truck shop and he said he'd do them for $80. Hopefully the guy im at right now isn't too much higher.

    I know huh...I wish I woulda known that before dropping them off at this place they're at right now. The place they're at right now is right by my work and all are work trucks go there so it's not like this is just a random shop
