LED light bar on tailgate

This is really new to me doing this. I am trying to put a LED taillights bar on the back tailgate of my pickup. Probably stupid question but do you actually have to hook up the reverse wiring to the taillights. I thought I could just have the braking and turn signals and skip the reverse light. Will the light bar work properly if not hooked the the pickups reverse light. When I plug it in it does funky things. The light bar flashes when I turn the turn signal on and half of the amber turns on also in the direction I turn but the whole bar flashes. I thought I would take a chance of not splicing into the pk reverse wiring. Thanks for any advise

Hard to know with no idea how your light bar needs to be wired.

Does it have red and amber led`s for turn signals and brake lights/tail lights?

Does the light bar also have white lights to come on when in reverse?
