Indeed. That 10 footer in my 6' bed is fine even with the tailgate up..it's roughly 45lbs.

The 8 footer is my wife's and that's narrower and lighter at 32lbs.

Not really sure if toting them around resting on the tailgate is any good for the boat or the tailgate (not that I'm worried about it since my tailgate is already dented) but I'm only going 20 miles or less... Usually 5 miles as we have about 7 cedar lakes near us.

As always.. using a tie down ratchet strap or 2 is a good idea not to loose your load and just for safety sake . No special rack or hitch mounted contraption is needed in the long bed with a 10' or less kayak ... Anything longer might require some type of special setup.

Yes, I would think that a kayak wouldn't do damage to a tailgate and securing it front and back could work. Thanks for the info!

Having a SX I am biased but I do like the simplicity of no flares as well.

Love the tire/wheel setup! The negative offset seems to give it a nice presence.

Nice truck! I am also looking at wheels and tire options and not interested in changing the suspension other than better-than-OEM shocks. Will eventually say goodbye to my steel wheels and go with an alloy. Tires? No idea right now but I doubt I will ever go off road so there's that.

What approach did you take for adding fogs?

I haven’t wired them yet(waiting for the harness to arrive) but when it does I’ll be writing them to their own switch so I can control them independently. Later I want to add some KC flex lights which are off-road only and want the option to control them on their own.

That is a good loop, can get quite the juxtaposition of climate zones if you drive around the San Francisco Peaks from Flag, then down around Sunset and the Painted Desert, then on through to the Grand Canyon.

Where abouts in New Mexico? Used to go over to Silver City to mountain bike, dirt biking in Cloud Croft.

Yeah, we really enjoyed it out there. Definitely want to do more exploring around US 50 in NV (so quiet out there). Colorado is getting too busy.

The NM pic is up on Mount Taylor just north of Grants, NM near a lookout tower. There are a bunch of camping areas on the road up the mountain and some really nice switchbacks and views.

Haven’t been to Colorado in about 15 years, it was busy back then. Haven’t done much exploring around Albuquerque, usually blow through there heading to Colorado from Southern AZ. Friends brother used to work/live on the Zuni Reservation.

You may like the Owyhee area, Southern Oregon/Idaho, Northern Nevada. Supposedly one of the least populated areas in the lower 48. Some great sandstone, volcanic formations, and grasslands looks like the Serengeti in places.

Your 265 tire wall is sticking outside the truck body and you don’t have mud flap. Do the 2 front wheels spray dirts onto the lower part of the body when you drive over muddy road?

I have 265 on my black Taco and I have the factory mud flaps. The 265s are just a wee bit wider than the mud flaps. Dirty water got sprayed on the lower part of the body on both side. It is very annoying.

Hey now! Actually like the flareless, but run down so many gravel and dirt roads, figured they would help save the paint, at least for a little while.
