Correct, I do think Ford is pretty close to putting some serious money into larger scale Ranger and Maverick production in the US, that might yield factories that flood the market with products. Ford doesn't have the best product, but they can win on sheer volume and determination when they choose to.

If they up the production it will definitely have the Field of Dreams affect on sales I feel. I think Ford makes decent products. I see just as many unhappy 3G Tacoma owners as 14G F-150 owners. Granted it's hard to breakdown F series sales, Tacoma is at 136k YTD & F series 362k YTD. More vehicles on the road equal more trucks with potential issues. Also for every 1 complaint we see online there are 1,000 happy owners with no issues not making a peep.

Looks like there is no '23 Tundra build option on the Toyota site; only '24s. I guess they sold/will sell everything they built this year without too much trouble. You can still build a '23 Tacoma? Seems weird. Also a lot of '23s still processing through their hold. I bet production for '23s is about done.

I'm only getting the '23 build. But chose the Capstone with any option I could add and got it to $110k

You can't really build a toyota anyway, that build button should be changed to "order and if your dealer finds it and can get it to you this is how much it should cost button"..

Same, however did a “sensible?” SR5 build.

$50k for a modestly equipped full size 4x4 long bed double cab is pretty standard. Welcome to a whole new world.

    Crazy, eh?

Could go a little cheaper with the SR, (around $43K) but it is detuned and can only tow 8000 lbs. What can’t find is, is it only detuned? Or is it lacking some parts like oil coolers and such to enable it to tow. Could it be as simple as a tune and tossing a receiver hitch on?

Little more cash over the SR5 can get a 3/4 Ton, dunno seems like the better buy over the Tundra. No turbos to deal with either, plus SFA.

That 250 is a LOT less well-equipped than an SR5, though

It is, however the payload and towing is so much more on the F250. More of what I’ll use than electronic gizmos.

Next truck is going to be a full-size, so seeing what will work for my needs and what I can get for similar money.

I mean, you’re talking about not even getting carpet in an XL. Sure, you might not care, but not caring makes you such an outlier that you’re kinda irrelevant to Toyota’s pricing decisions.

Yeah, kinda bummed you can’t get rubber flooring/vinyl seats in the Tundra (and Tacoma for that matter).

I am in the dirt and mud an awful lot would be nice to have. Do a bunch of camping, dirt biking, basic yard and house maintenance/reno. Just yesterday was covered in mud, sawdust from trimming trees…guess a little blood too, noticed blood all over my door armrest when I got home from the dump.

Full-size thinking a Grandby Four Wheel Camper, plus towing either a 6X12 or 7X14 cargo trailer built out with cabinets/counters for hauling and working on dirt bikes. Not sure if the Tundra would be up to task. Payload would be pushing it with the relatively “light weight” FWC. Loaded down with supplies and hitch weight from the trailer might push it over the edge.

Be nice if Toyota made a 1 Ton.

Crazy isn't it...I have a rule, if I am spending 50K or more, on a truck, it better have the capability to make money if I need it to... most 1/2 tons don't fit that criteria these days. I am solidly in the used low mileage 2nd/2.5 gen tundra buying crowd though...lol. Thats probably going to be my play if/when I need a heavier camper puller.

With all the failure points of any engine these days, a turbo isn’t exactly a big deal. NA engines are insanely complex now in order to squeeze out the last bit of economy.

Besides, who buys a super duty and doesn’t get the diesel option? Pfft!
