Spent 4 days doing the Oregon Backroads Discovery Route. A mix of pavement, gravel road, dirt road and a few spots of 4x4 driving. Lots of dust.

On the third day I ran over a branch. Got a big bang and crunch as it hit my sliders and tumbled underneath. Within about a half an hour my Traction Control, ABS, and Brake light all lit up. I did a quick check at all 4 brakes and there wasn't anything obviously broken on the wiring or connectors, nothing loose. Brakes still work, just don't have ABS or Traction Control since.

Been back about a week and in that time I changed the front brake pads and rotors. Took a look at the connectors and wiring and don't see anything. I've inspected the rear wires and connectors and it all looks good.

Checked my DashCmnd app for codes and there aren't any. BTW, the app says it's connected and I have gotten codes before. Reset it and have driven about another 60 miles and still no codes but the lights are still there.

Not sure what to try next.

I thought I should disconnect the connections, clean and reapply dialectic grease but I'm not sure how they come apart. One clip or two? Wear green pants while chanting praises to Chef Boy-R-Dee...?

    TIA

I got no idea. How can I tell? I also have Torque but it's been awhile since I've used either of them and now Torque won't connect.

Some scanners have different scans for each system.
And other have a full system scan.

Check the brake light switch under the pedal. We had a very similar issue with my son's Subaru. The part is made by Nissan and used by many different manufacturers. It was about a $ 15 part and replacement fixed the problem

Ok, so I flashed the codes out.

    Looking at the chart:
    Flash ---- Techstream
    33 ---- c1403, c1407, c1411
    38 ---- c1415
    94 ---- u0073

    Thanks.

Take a good look at the right rear speed sensor.
A scan tool is handy, as it will tell you if the sensor is reading correctly.

You can also try the below to see where the problem is

So pulled the connector on the right rear side and there isn't voltage at either of the two pins. Came back to look at this diagram and I noticed it says to check it at the 4 pin connector. That's at the brake actuator? I'm not sure where the actuator is.

I think the 4 pin connector maybe be back by the center of the rear axle.
I’d have to crawl under mine and trace the wires. I’d do it now, but it raining here. (As usual for this time of year).

Ya, the 4 pin is just over the pumpkin.

That's where the problem was. I'd extended the rear axle breather via a tube up to the bed storage box. I had routed the tube around the wiring bracket and it had slid off the bracket onto the wiring harness. Of course it sat between the sheath and the plastic connector, slowly rubbing directly on the wire. Wore completely through the copper, but not the sheath.

So I spliced in a 1" length of wire, twisting and soldering the ends. Coated the whole thing with some liquid electrical tape and then slid a piece of shrink tubing over the whole thing. I'm hoping the liquid will fill any gaps in the shrink tube.

I'm giving it a couple of hours for the liquid tape to seal, then I'll go back out and put it all back together. Hope it works:fingerscrossed:

Oh, removing the spare tire gives you all sorts of room for activities.

    Nice.
At least you found the problem.
I think you’ll be fine with repairing it like you did.
Give it a few hours, clear the codes, and take it for a drive:thumbsup:
