Will the 4G be able to run 16” wheels?

Anyone heard if the new gen brake calipers etc. prevent running 16” wheels? I believe the lowest trim SR is on 17s so I’m not optimistic. I just haven’t heard one way or another. Reason being is that there seem to be more options for 255 33s in 16” than 17”. Or maybe since most Tacoma’s will now be on 17s more tire manufacturers will start offering 255/80r17.

 

I thought the common wisdom was that there were more options in 17”. I’m going to have to go look again since I’m down to about 20k miles left. You can never start too early on your tire search.

 

Absolutely, never too early, what do you think I’m doing, haha.

There might be on average more total sizes in 17, but I was specifically wanting to put on 255 33s, but not everyone, including BFG make a 255/80r17 in an AT, RT or MT while most of them make a 255/85r16.

Toyo, Falken, Yokohama and Nitto make a 255 33 though, so still options.

 

In the 16” iterations, I think they are almost exclusively E load rated.
