This might sound a little funny. But once you break the filter loose, use a large solo cup and unscrew the rest of the way with it. Keeps the oil contained. Skid plate or not you won’t have oil everywhere

Here is a little update. Almost all completed as a dxf file, some slight things to finish like the radius of some corners. Big shout out to @Kwikvette for getting this file made! I will be listing this in Etsy within the next couple days as a downloadable file. *measurements will be provided along with bend angles in the file when purchased*!

This is what I do. I think I use an XL cup from Wendy’s. The filter fits perfectly in the tapered bottom portion of the cup.

I’m also liking this skid. A nice, clean design.

But when you loosen the filter, the oil is already leaking out all over before you can even get any cup on there. I tried lining everything with a plastic trash bag but it still makes a mess of things.

You have to just crack it loose and before it started coming out use the cup and squeeze the filter and loosen with that, it works

Due to the time difference between the OP and I, we've done pretty well to communicate when we can

I'm fairly new to CAD, so I may have to see how I can make the design fully defined (without having to redraw it). This doesn't change how it works with CAM; everything has been gone through as far as the OP's dimensions.

As we've discussed, file format would be in DXF.

Just waiting to hear back on correct bend angles but here's my take at it so far judging by the pics for those wanting to see the drain access -

It's fair to say she's done!

Sketch/dimensions belong to the OP so make sure to contact him for purchasing said file!

I will not be distributing this file.

Two files will be provided; one flat for profile and cut path creation with included notes on bends and a second file as shown above.

    *correction*

Three files, I created an STP file as that is widely popular just like a DXF.

Nice! I had stock skid plates on my 1st gen, it was rounded off in the front though… it really made a difference in gas mileage too. I got about 50-60 more miles per tank with the skid plate. That’s a nice build though, great job!

Get a 1 quart oil container and cut it down to just the top taper section with the cap. Crack the filter loose through the wheel well and let it drain into the basin. Then remove the filter and contain the mess with some rags.

Skid plates specifically, we made for the 100 series Landcruiser for Slee in Colorado.

    Ah no way

Most of their stuff is overpriced so having some things outsourced and charging what they do makes sense

That's the only Toyota related skids we've done recently. We don't specifically cater to the automotive aftermarket, but it's unlikely you go a day with out passing by several products we make. (Like the weather data stations on the side of the road, we make all the bracketry for all of those.)

    Nice!

Only cool thing I'd say I've made are many of the table/benches for Disneyland. Everything else were city contracts for park benches, state park grills and seating, trash bins, bus stop bench/awnings, light poles, etc
