Engine oil and engine oil filter is cheap. Compared to engine spin bearing, burn bearing. Can do oil and filter change at 1,000 miles, but beyond 5,000 miles is pushing it. Also, every six months, or every 5,000 miles, whichever comes first, the oil change.

When the 5th gen EV Tacoma comes out in 10 years, we can stop having this conversation. We can talk about how many miles per 1.21 gigwatts we get or how we found a deal on a 2035 Tacoma for under $100k.

Electric cars still have tranny and differential fluids that are important to change.

Here's the Blackstone for the oil, Zinc is not particularly high although Silicon, moly boron and copper are:

Every vehicle I've bought with a 'break-in' process has it outlined in the manual when and how to change the oil. Toyota just says to go easy on it for the first few thousand; if it were critical to break-in that this oil remain in the motor I would think they would say so. That said, it's a personal choice, I doubt waiting matters much.

Maybe. I would never buy it. Can EV Tacoma handle crossing water? EV high maintenance?

Um, no. At least some, most, maybe all electric vehicles do not have any kind of mechanical transmission and hence no transmission fluid.

Electric vehicles are more different than most people think.

Hello, why do you have to say this? Look it up, for example Tesla dual motors have a 1 speed (mechanical) transmission with a ratio of 9.71:1 in the back and 9.34:1 in the front, so they can optimize the efficiency bands. Nissan, VW, have equivalent speed reducers, that manufacturers try not to call transmissions for marketing reasons. Some rare, higher performance ones even have multi-gear transmissions (Porsche). I have never heard of any direct drive electric car, wheels turn way too slow for an electric motor to be in the optimal efficiency range. And unless we are considering some exotic electric car that has one motor (and tranny) per side, there is going to be a mechanical differential. And, given that electric motors tend to have high torque compared to endothermic engines for the same power class, the forces on those gears are going to be higher and fluid maintenance even more important.

"Ahahahah" drive unit oil change on Tesla:

Make sure to watch at the end the oil coming out of the drain exactly like any other car. Even the housings are the usual cast aluminum

I like to wait until 3kmi. for the first engine oil change. Gives you some time to gather all the tools. Every 5k after that. Some old habits are hard to break... Actual oil & filter change is a piece of cake. Make sure you put the big o-ring in the proper groove... If unsure, read or ask !

Fumoto valve, I just installed the F133S. Instead of oil gushing out you move a small lever and control the oil draining. But you need to first do an oil change with uncontrolled drain. The S has a short nipple (attach a hose to direct the oil drain) or long nipple, or get one with no nipple to break off.

The funnel shown for the Motivx has a feature that is not obvious ... normal funnels do not lock into the oil fill neck. The Motivx funnel does more-or-less lock into the Tacoma fill port for focusing on management of 5-quart oil bottles.
