    I like those FWC...I have tried every way in the world to talk myself into one of those for the Tacoma...I wonder if FWC has the bed specs on the new 4g yet to make sure they fit, with that new possible payload, it might really be a winning combo

    Oh, not at all. I find the whole discussion completely silly. That’s why it’s fun. Nobody uses their TRUCKs like TRUCK people should. All while we own Tacomas

    Me too, it just would kill the already dismal payload. Guys make them work though. Dunno, after my construction days and doing sketchy shit, it is all about towing safe now, especially with my own equipment. For hauling and towing always buy twice the truck you need. I could make the Taco work with a GFC and smallish 5X8/10 cargo trailer for the bikes. That would keep within the weight limits that I personally feel safe with.

    Ah yeah, I forgot you tow bikes as well, yeah the FWC pushes the Taco right put to the limit, and you definitely need some spring help even with the light trailer its really pushing it.

    Had a Wildernest on the 1st Gen, not a heavy camper, maybe 350 lbs? It has a payload of 1600 lbs. But loaded and pulling a three spot moto trailer, well under the weight limits, you could definitely feel it. Especially if you had to jump on the brakes.

    My 3rd Gen just with a plain topper and loaded with gear, plus trailer get fairly close to payload limit of 1100 lbs. Not sure how guys with FWCs do it, I mean I do…just don’t think it is safe. On my moto trips do regret not getting at least a 1/2 ton, but only do 3, 1 week trips a year so I just deal with it.

    @Hogleg918 - That F350 looks soooo goood, Ford nailed it with the Super Duty STX package. The older I get, the more I hate chrome. Body color or black looks 1000x better. Anyone think the Silverado HD WTs look good?
    Got that Stromtrooper look from the factory, I love seeing them why I'm out and about.

    Eight years ago were you saying "If I'm going to spend $35K on a truck, I want an HD" and then buy your Tacoma?

    Reminds of the 2010ish Ford SD XLs.

    Speaking of leather, does anyone know what kind of leather they use in the Tacoma trd pro and off road premiums? I've seen the interwebs say the grand Cherokee uses full grain Napa leather, I doubt toyota uses any any kind of higher end leather.

    @SwollenGoat -- kinda do, don't they?
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PiZHNw1MtzI

    @guest_707 -- For the 3rd gen the Tacoma, Just plain leather from what I've read, I'm sure the 4th gen will have softex only. The Tundra Platinum & 1794 get "premium leather" and the capstone get semi-aniline leather.

    2024 Tundra Brochure is on the toyota website now.

    No, 8 years ago I was driving a Ram 2500, because at the time I needed a truck to do truck things... And when I didn't need the payload and towing of an HD anymore, I traded it in on a Tacoma. (I don't recall too many HD trucks being 35K even 8 years ago, but that has been a while. I actually remember the 1/2 ton-1ton gap being a bit bigger than it is now)

    All the manufacturers do market research. There are more buyers saying "for $50K, I want luxury, bells and whistles, and some truck capability" than those saying "a $50K truck better be able to a 20,000lb trailer". If you have a $50K budget for truck you compare apples to apples. If you need an HD truck you are not going to be cross shopping Tacomas/Tundras/F150s. You're buying what you want or need and that determines the value not the payload/tow capability.

    For 50K in the 1/2 ton market these days your not getting a whole lot of luxury, or bells and whistles..lol

    Technically, the Tacoma is a 1/2 ton. At one time "1,000 lbs" was consider sufficient for a pickup truck. The Tacoma does that (and more) and for less than $50K you can get one that is more comfortable than a 70s/80s 1/2 ton.
