The truck carrier broke down with my new Tacoma. Now what?

Look Karen , the dealer has no control over this issue . You and the dealer messed up showing up for a vehicle that wasn’t delivered even tho they said it would be in the am. I’d be willing to bet the dealer would have it delivered from them to you free of charge or take something off the sale price . Either way waiting three months isn’t uncommon what’s a few more days .

@fourfourone I did not know this. They made it sound like this kind of thing happens all the time and I get a “vip delivery”! When they do deliver they truck I will be recording every second of it and do a full inspection so that if it did get fucked up in transport I have the video proof.

 

@mysubiewasalemon Main concern is truck getting damaged as they literally told me me that the driver said the vehicles might get damaged if they try lower the platform. So that’s not very karen like, it’s having a legit concern for a $60,000 + truck.

 

I guess you shouldn’t have signed paperwork without having the truck in your possession……

The hydraulic mechanism part that broke may not be something simple to get. Those aren't exactly on every truck out there on the road. My guess is they thought they would be able to get a part really quick and they were wrong. Unless they give you the truck drivers phone number so he can tell you the real story you will likely not hear from them again until they actually do have the truck. I wouldn't keep giving information to a customer that I had already improperly informed... I would make certain I was right the next time. You may want to start looking into "failure to deliver" clauses in your state...

 

No doubt the delivery courier f**ked up.

But you f**ked up too by signing that paperwork BEFORE the truck was on the lot and you had looked it over.

You shoulda called on Monday and said, hey - my truck there?
No - holler when it is and I'll come down and finish this deal..

Does this fancy VIP delivery mean they are bringing it to your house and will let you un\sign that paperwork if it is messed up??
Are they gonna refund that first payment if it is messed up??
Do you have any of this in writing??

 

Only once have I seen a loaded car hauler being towed by a heavy duty wrecker.

Will your destination charge be increased due to the added expense to the carrier?

Just gonna have to wait. Dealership still has to gas it up and put it on the lot with a sold sticker on it to piss off anyone thinking they have Tacos in the lot.


On a side not, one of my projects is shut down because one of the John Deere dozers broke down blocking job site. Job site had to wait for John Deere tech to come see what was wrong with it.

 

To me it sounds like the truck got damaged in transit, arrived at the dealer and they are scrambling to fix the truck.

 

Probably putting an SR hood, and driver's side bedside on it right now hoping the customer won't notice.

 

@fourfourone I got the truck for $52k, I put 13K down, my monthly is $720 for 72 months. So 702 x 72 + 13K = $64,840 at 5.4~% APR. No dealer markup.

 

@fourfourone Honestly my gf and I were getting that feeling, as one of the dealers ghosted me after I started asking where the truck was and two other dealers were saying two different things.

 

@Carpedm Yeah true I’m sure it’s not an easy fix if that is indeed the case. I’m just hoping they are being honest with me, I think a lot of them are god fearing people if you know what I mean (Idaho). The thought of getting a lawyer or any of that shit make me sick to my stomach but if I don’t get the truck by next week I may have no other option. Why would they have me sign all the paperwork if they weren’t confident the truck was arriving? The whole thing is weird

 

I suppose the hydraulics that raise and lower the loading ramps also does double duty to raise the trailer off the fifth wheel? Seems kinda stupid. They wouldn't be able to replace the tractor then. No backup system for the fifth wheel? Then they could take the trailer to a place to have the hydraulics repaired. I think there's more to the story you're not getting.

 

Your math is not right lol. Down payment does add to the cost of the truck it reduces it.

Technically the truck cost around 55k.
