    Hello all,

Yesterday was driving and noticed when I put my left turn signal on there was nothing. No indicator on the dash, no clicking sound, no blinking light.

    Right turn signal works fine.

Left signal did blink once a few times before I made it home, but then nothing after the first blink.

This morning I went out to try to diagnose further and it was functioning normally...

I'm wondering if there is a separate relay for each blinker? Or is it the control stalk?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

I don't believe there are any flasher relays, those went the way of the dodo bird a couple of decades ago, there is a portion of one of the ECU's that handles that function.
If you have any modifications to wiring (even more so, lighting) go retrace all your connection points. And, if you have any aftermarket bulbs, start to verify they are not causing the issue.
These things are finicky in this department, even if the mods have been stable for X months or years, they are still the best place to start.

Toyota decided to run the control system through the combination meter (instrument cluster) on the 3rd gens.

    There’s only 3 possibilities.

    Wiring
    Signal switch
    Or the cluster

Thanks for the suggestions chew. I don't have any aftermarket parts on this truck besides some aftermarket taillights that have been on since 2018.

When you say signal switch do you mean the actual stalk tnshooter?

Is there something I can replace here to fix?

    Yes, the actual stalk.
I’ll see if I look closer at the diagrams tonight with some more info and help.

I'd be looking at those aftermarket tails. Bulbs and wiring connections. Free and easy to do.

If you have a meter, Ohm out those taillights. If the resistor is going out, it can cause a spike in resistance and that could do it. I unfortunately have played with the turn circuit enough to know that if you overload it, it will blink once, then not at all. Like this

Thanks all. Puppy, that single blink is exactly what it was doing. So a bad tail light will basically disable the blinker indicator and all including in the dash? Sometimes I wish we could go back to the 50's when things were simple...

Yeah, it will disable it front, back, and dash. If you have a meter, but aren't sure how to check the resistance, let me know.
