Almost back to normal. Still a little unstable going down hills/stairs but I'm still progressing which is all that matters. The knees get tight af after prolonged sitting though, I'm working my way into my "predict the weather with my joints" years. Hit some squats with 185 the other day, felt like a superman...lol.

I know there are a couple of runners in here, the rest of you just keep your comments to yourself ;)

I switched to Altra’s two sets of shoes ago. Both of them end up ripping on the right shoe on the outside about midway back, where the fabric meets the sole, about 10 months in (about 15-20 miles a week). First one I thought was an anomaly but second shows an issue.

Any other shoe recommendations? I really like the light flat comfort of the Altras but I do expect more life than I get, as I am not a big milage person.

What Altras just out of curiosity. I wear all Altras for road, trail, and casual and I feel like the quality and potential design flaws are very different between some of the models.
My Lone Peaks are my fave, for road I like the Riveras and the Torin.

I also like Topo Athletic shoes if you are digging the large toe space.

The Escalante's and yes, the large toe box is great.

I personally feel the escalantes lack durability. I weight lift in the Solstice and that would likely not survive as a running shoe either.

The Rivera should be better. I think it has slightly more stack height than the escalantes though.

Thanks! I'll take a look. My running is pretty simple, all road and 4-6 miles, 3-4 times a week.

I’ll let you know what I hammer out at the gym this afternoon. 47 & still trying to achieve my physical goals. I won’t probably get as big and defined as I’d like but….no harm in going after it anyways.

No, but I surprised myself with an easy double at 275 and a single at 285 Monday. Not bad for an old man with no leg drive lol.

47 as well and I'm right there with you. Like my MMA coach says, "Father Time is undefeated, but we're going to give him a hell of a fight."

    Stuff. Also things.
    Just turned 47 last week!

I fucked up and let my job and the stress that comes with it knock me off of my routine. Had some decent numbers on the big lifts, but I’ll have to do that work again. The stress isn’t going away, so why not get that fulfillment and investment back? Pretty sure that stronger and stressed is better than weaker and stressed :D

Stress isn’t healthy. It’s unavoidable in life unfortunately. Learning to manage the stress is key. I found that lifting & being in nature help minimize the stress in my life. If you can’t reduce the stress….use it as fuel in the gym.

:EDIT: I guess by our age….we’ve already learned these lessons though.

    Bruh same.

Gained quite a bit of weight letting job and life stress eat my mental health.

Slowly but surely on the path back to where I want to be.

Totally relate. This has been a very tough year at my house mentally on a few levels. Life needs to cut the shit already.
