The truck carrier broke down with my new Tacoma. Now what?

Raptor 37 or Rubicon 392 would be pretty legit, just not the price tag. Hang in there, no one is getting a Frontier. Calmer heads will prevail. Today sucks, 2 weeks from now will probably be pretty good.

    By the time OP gets
I went to Costco once and purchased samsung galaxy s9. While I was in line checking out another phone rep sold someone else the phone I was waiting in line to purchase. That other rep, walked the person up and had the costco red vest get the phone so he could set it up for the other customer.

So just maybe like what happened to me, another dealer sold someone else that same VIN and the other dealer has better pull, or the dealership worked out a trade with the other dealer.

OP doesn’t have the vehicle he signed PPW for.

Step away from the Nissan and take a deep breath, it’s gonna workout, there are other Tacomas out there.

@asuchemist that’s wild. But when I searched the vin during the buying process it only showed at my dealership. Plus they have to have something in their Toyota system that manages vins. For the company who sells “the most midsize trucks in America” I would think they would have it dialed, nah mean?

I’m confused what papers were you signing Wednesday after waiting for 3 months and still not seeing the truck ?

Who called and offered to bring it to you ?

Who said that “they” don’t know what’s going on?

You have to be a bit more clear here.

@maxmk8 Someone from the dealership called me on Sunday, I don’t know who. They said looks like the truck will be delivered tonight, how about Wednesday? I said great. Even got an email from the salesman I had been dealing with throughout the whole buying process saying it was on the way and “see you Wednesday!” On Wednesday I signed all of the paper work. I met with a salesman or dealer, ran the credit check, gave them $12,000 cash, met with the finance guy and signed all of his things, he presented me with the warranty options etc. Then after half of the signings, like 4 people walked up to me, one of them looked like a GM and explained the truck carrier breaking down story and that the salesman who I was dealing with can deliver my car in the morning to me for free (2hrs away) I said sure that works. And then today I get a text from him saying “Just wanted to let you know. The truck driver that had your truck on it said he was gonna drop it off late last night but that was not the truck we were waiting for so your truck is not here yet, we've tried to call that driver to see what's going on but we haven't been able to get ahold of him. When ever I get an update on that I will let you know” And then I never got an update for the rest of the day.

So I’m still not following. The “truck” was supposed to arrive on Wednesday. And you went into an office with money and started signing papers ? Mid way through the process a bunch of weirdos walked in and said it wasn’t there?

this sounds shady af … but I’m also not following how after it “arrived” you didn’t go to at least see it. That doesn’t add up in my mind.

have you asked for your money back yet ?

what did you actually sign ?

do you have the keys ?

@maxmk8 They said the truck was to be delivered on Monday. I went in and did the paperwork. Then told oh we made a mistake, the truck is stuck on a truck carrier, we thought the truck coming in Sunday night had your truck on it. Whoops

I have not asked for my money back.

I signed everything, I was in there for almost 3 hours.

    No keys.

@tacoma_ca this is what it says:

Sorry, looks like Toyota has no data for this vehicle at this time.

If I am signing papers and having my credit checked for a vehicle, then I must be able to see that vehicle through the window. "Pig in a poke" ... middle ages, pigs sold at the market came in a bag (called a poke"). Sometimes the vendors were a teensy bit less than honest about what was in the canvas bag. Also "a bill of goods". People pay for the product based only on the shipping bill, then the seller vanished.

Assuming there is a product to be sold (too many lawyers these days for selling a non-existent vehicle), the OP put his entire savings into a down payment. I may be old, but life has taught me to value cash (or at least easily convertible product such as gold) over a promise of wages from a job that MAY still exist next year. Then drove 2 hours and STILL signed over credit and a first payment (my first payment after the down payment was made 45 days later) and I DID see the truck through the window.

Then the vehicle is stuck on a transport carrier that is broken and will receive significant mechanical repairs when the parts and funding (transport cannot be a cash-rich business, my guess) are secured. Apparently they are talking about more than a couple of tires.

I do not follow social page trends, but I assume "Karen" is a form of "princess". The OP will eventually learn after a few years that a cancer diagnosis or hospital stay after a serious T-bone accident is actually more traumatic than having to wait for the delivery of a truck. Let us hope the job the OP currently has is still there when the T-bone accident occurs to help pay the hospital bills, as the savings account has been emptied now.
