Don't walk away, Run Away!!!. All that Rust makes me think the frame is going to have problems. I always tell people, to shop in the SouthWestern U.S. If you find a truck you can always make a down payment to hold it, then buy a one way ticket. Complete the deal and drive it home. Look in Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, Nevada. Even the Southern states like Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, Alabama, North Carolina.
You can find a good 1st gen, in way better shape that that rust bucket, but you have to be patient and keep looking. And always request multiple photo's of the frame front and rear.

    That truck's a "walk-away" for me.

    Maybe even a fast walk-away.

Maybe even a "run away and hide"!

I don't need to know the price. It's a no. That's going to be a pricey and involved project for those who have enough garage space and weekend time to swap undercarriage parts. If you're trying to daily it, it'll either leave you stranded or it will kill you.

    Yeah.
I was going to say, the frame condition looks pretty good and doesn't match the rest of the truck. It needs a lot of parts replaced, but would make a decent project if it's got a good motor and you can get it cheap. I'd pay maybe $4K for it max as a project, if the interior and engine was good. Drop significantly from there if it needs major mechanical work or interior parts replaced.

Even with the mint interior and 110k on the engine with the frame swap?

    God bless!

    Yeah.
It needs new UCA's, springs, shocks (those look like the originals and should have been replaced a long time ago), possibly a new rear axle housing along with all the dust guards, spare wheel, probably lots of other stuff underneath. As was mentioned, it's not something you buy for daily driving and needs to be refreshed. Lots of time and work and expense. But, it seems like it's got a good frame, and that's hard to find. Bonus that it's got low mileage and good interior.

If you are looking for a project, can get it for cheap, and are willing to put up with the frustration of fixing all the rusted parts, it might be worth it to you. If you are looking for a daily driver, look elsewhere, this one isn't roadworthy.

Kinda hard to miss the fact that the axle housing is so rusted the gear oil is seeping through what's left of the metal. lol

Depends on if you can wrench on it yourself. If your paying for the labor walk away. If your gonna put in the blood, sweat, and beers yourself I'd offer $2500

    Yeah.
^This, and it is going to take time. If you need it as a daily driver, it's going to be a while before it gets to that point.

Based on your replies I'm thinking you already grew emotionally attached to the truck.

Do you have a shop, and are you prepared to spend up to a year with it sitting on stands while you source and replace parts to keep it under that 10k budget?

Because if you need it roadworthy faster than that, you'll be over that budget by darn near double.

Or is that a sloppy ass diff oil change?

OP says frame is replaced. Lots of surface rust, there are a few areas of concern. If you're up for a project it's not too far gone and would be a point to knock the price down. If you don't want to take it on yourself and are paying a shop to do it, it's over the top.

You can see someone has given an attempt at keeping it alive, there are some new-ish parts here and there. Have it looked over for mechanical issues and if that all checks out you have some work ahead of you to mitigate further rust damage, but I'd take it on, looks to be at least a 6 month project.

Assuming healthy engine with 110k miles and solid frame, and it's a 4x4.. would get a full rear axle assembly and go through all suspension, brakes, etc. and you will have a solid truck. however there weren't many good frame pictures provided, just because the frame was replaced doesn't mean the second one hasn't seen its fair share of salt too - it could have seen a decade's worth of conditions by now too. It's a personal choice, but agree it feels like a No if you won't be doing the labor yourself
