2011 Scion XB; I initially saw this car from a distance, thought "there's no way that thing actually pulled that trailer", and believed that it was merely parked in front of the trailer. As I got closer, I realized that it was actually hitched to the trailer!

This is even more impressive than the time I went to a car show in Delaware almost two years ago, and saw a very tired-looking Lexus RX300 pulling a very large and very sketchy-looking trailer (See pic in first quoted post), as I was leaving the car show!

On another note, I stopped to fill up at a gas station in 2018 or 2019 and met a guy with a Honda Fit who was pulling an enclosed trailer not much smaller than this one. He said that the car performed surprisingly well towing the trailer, but that he got less than 20 MPG if I remember correctly; I'm guessing that this Scion had similar results...

 

Unlike the Lexus that I saw in Delaware back in 2021, this car is definitely not a shitbox and seems to be cared for...

If it was a manual transmission it was probably fine. Nothing to get hot. Just have to use the gears right.

 

Is it bad that I used my slushbox Tacoma for towing?

 

No. I use my Auto to tow.
You just want to keep the shifting to a minimum. And the converter from locking and unlocking constantly.

 

I shifted into "2" one time to get up a really steep hill...

 

It will be fine.

Do what ever it takes to get up the hill

 

The first and so far only time I ever towed a trailer on a public road, last March, when I helped my girlfriend and her roommate get their stuff out of storage in the Poconos. My truck wouldn't go above 30 MPH on that hill!

 

The passenger side fender paint appears not to match, probably had a small accident somewhere along the way and been replaced.

 

So you’re saying I can haul a mattress with a little Scion?

This 2005 Scion XB is a 2011 SEMA show vehicle with only 27K miles on the clock and has a $30,000 paintjob (note the license plate)!

The custom paintwork continues under the hood, and a supercharger boosts the engine to 215hp, which this car needs due to the extra weight added by the stereo system and sound deadening material!
