For some reason my memory says the Tacoma rear differential is manufactured by Hino, which is Toyota's large truck division.

I was at 175,999 miles when I got to Pete's this morning, and he ended up passing 176K while on a test drive to diagnose the source of the rear end noise...

While driving to get Amanda for work, I had a theory...

The tires were rotated on Monday when I had the truck inspected. The front tires, which had a bit more meat on them, are now on the rear. This would explain why the rear end noise seemed to start suddenly; Pete took the truck for a drive and confirmed my theory. Pete also checked the rear diff fluid and found nothing actually wrong, but the fluid was very dark, so he changed it.

Cheap or free is always good. Plus I suspect you are more sensitive to it now that you got the links done so you're thinking more about it.

I would like to apologize for the delay; I took A LOT of pictures at Carlisle, just of the Toyotas. When I post pictures of vehicles on the internet, I black out the license plates for privacy reasons, unless...

    • The vehicle is older than 1981. Pre-1981 VINs cannot be run through Carfax, and likely cannot be run through any other database open to the public, with the possible exception of the California smog check website (and vehicles registered in California don't turn up here that often).
    • The vehicle is JDM, or was sold new anywhere but the USA or Canada (It is also harder to run these VINs, though sometimes grey market imports newer than 1980 will show up in Carfax with a VIN of "0" and no information other than when they were first titled stateside).
    • The vehicle has a very unique personalized/vanity license plate.

Blacking out license plates alone takes hours; I also post my pictures on Tundras.com and 4Runners.com in addition to TW. Combine that with the fact that I have a job, I drive my girlfriend to and from her job, and I have been working out with my dad the last two evenings; I have also spent a good portion of the last three days at my mechanic overseeing a combined total nearly $600 in repairs and preventive maintenance on my truck!

    I've been BUSY!

I've also got a few local pictures that I've taken since returning from Carlisle, and @Stitchgirl90 and I will be doing two car shows this weekend. This includes the New Hope Auto Show, which is both Saturday and Sunday, and will have a dedicated Toyota/Lexus section on Sunday!

Woke up to a hot house and malfunctioning lights today, turns out that animal that dug up the gutter drain pipes also chewed into the AC and lights wiring.

I accidentally got some of the Fluid Film on the catalytic converter, which resulted in an unpleasant smell and a bit of white smoke when @Stitchgirl90 and I drove to see Indiana Jones...

I am glad you brought up coating the frame on the truck, really needing to spray mine again with body cavity wax

I absolutely love the three original Indiana Jones movies. The fourth one, starring Shia Lebouff as a Indy's son and sidekick, and which was released almost 20 years after the third movie, could not hold a candle to the original, but was not boring (I literally haven't seen it since my parents took me to see it in theaters back in 2008).

Everybody knows what the phrase "Jump the shark" means. Well, Kingdom of the Crystal Skull "nuked the fridge". Early in the movie, Indy finds himself in a mockup town about to be blown up by a nuclear bomb, and seeks shelter in a lead-lined refrigerator. The fridge is sent flying quite a distance, but Indy survives. This was the best scene in the whole movie in my opinion, and like when the Fonz jumped over the shark on water skis, it was after this that franchise as a whole went down the toilet.

Dial of Destiny is not a bad movie by any means, and in fact holds a 69% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. However, it still hasn't broken even and is considered a box office bomb. For starters, it's too damn long. The movie started at 9:35 (probably more like 9:45 after previews), and I didn't get home until after 1am because it was so long and I had to drive @Stitchgirl90 home.

The first film, Raiders of the Lost Ark, featured Nazis as villains; I have not seen any of the original Indiana Jones movies in close to 20 years, but I see to remember that Nazis appeared as the bad guys in at least two of the movies. In the second movie, I believe that the primary antagonist was a Chinese mob boss, and the 2008 film had Soviets as the villains; I'm really gonna have to rewatch Indiana Jones now!

The special effects in Dial of Destiny were awesome, and Harrison Ford injected the usual wise-assery that his believed character is known for into this movie, but it just dragged on forever. I love Harrison Ford as both Han Solo and Indiana Jones, and his return to the big screen was the main reason I saw this movie. The fact that my girlfriend loves the original Indiana Jones movies as well was just an added bonus.

Amanda and I were two or four people in the auditorium, and Amanda observed that the guy seated in front of us fell asleep; Amanda had a hard time stifling her laughter.

The special effects were awesome, and Harrison Ford has still got it as one of my favorite movie characters of all time. Two characters from the original movies make a reappearance as well, played by their original actors.

Unless you are an even bigger fan of Indiana Jones than I am, and don't plan on bringing your kids, I would not see this movie in theaters. My girlfriend was bored out of her mind for much of it, and as stated above, I thought it dragged on. If they make another Indiana Jones movie, it will probably be set in the late 1970s, with Russian communists as the primary villains again and with the titular character living in a nursing home...

Haven't seen it and probably won't but I just looked, 154 minutes. Nowadays I think 2.5 hours is a big ask from a movie in the theater.

I got pulled over AGAIN at about 1am this morning on the way from dropping off Amanda after seeing Indiana Jones, but not for speeding and this time I didn't get a ticket; I was tired and apparently I swerved out of my lane. A cop pulled me over less than a mile from home and let me go with a warning after rather quickly establishing that I was tired but not the least bit drunk. My parents were pissed at first, until I told my mom that it had been an unmarked green Charger, and discovered that the cop hadn't given me a physical written warning. No doubt he thought I was hammered..

Glad you didn't get a ticket and just a warning. One time years ago in the middle of the night l went grocery shopping and l got pulled over. It was less than a 1/4 of a mile from the parking lot and the cop said l made 4 moving violations, lol.
