    I don't use radio presets so I ain't worried about those -
Anything else gonna go haywire if I change the battery ?...
Buying one off the shelf and they won't install and I don't think auto-zone etc
will swap it for me unless I buy it there.

I didn't lose any. Think there's a backup capacitor or similar that stores settings for a while when battery is disconnected.

I am thinking so, that's probably why when some want to do some sort of reset (like trans shift learning) they unhook battery, and touch the negative and positive cables for min.

Some say you have a short window to get the new battery in. Others buy products that are attached through the cabin computer connector that sends a small maintenace charge while the main battery is out ... Crapazon, other sites, maybe even AutoZone.

If you go with "trust the hidden capacitor", unplug all secondary devices like dashcams and cell-phone power blocks until main battery is back.

in the end; it's not like you have a choice,,, other than to hook a charger up or something, but not sure that's a good idea, I will let an actual tech recommend that procedure.

    I wouldn't recommend doing that.
I've disconnected the battery (negative ground) more than once and don't remember any changes after reconnection.

Isn’t it just the fuel economy stuff? Like I think your average resets as if you did it manually through the eco app on the headunit?
Thought that was something I noticed but I could be wrong

Thats good the hear these trucks have memory. When I had my gen1 tundra, every time I disconnected the battery.... even for a minute, I'd loose everything.

Well I swapped out apparently no muss no fuss everything seems to be hunkydory
Current battery was at the 2.5 year mark which in Arizona is either change it now or wait till you're stuck some place.
I've played that game before and am not a fan.

Battery stamped 8/23 so it's a fresh one.

I follow your swap it out every 30 mo. strategy religiously. Heat kills batteries here in the southwest and a new battery is cheaper than a tow truck. Also, the battery only dies at night, weekends or when you are on vacation.

    True Dat -
Was in YellowStone back-country a few years ago and the wife's Subaru stuttered on start up.
Stopped at a Ranger Station to pick up a fishing license and it was totally dead.
Had this happened where it stuttered on us we'd have made the six-O'clock news.... couple found dead in Yellowstone LOL

The next time it happened was middle of Arizona Summer in a WMart parking lot, and I had ice-cream in tow... it wasn't a pretty sight.

So now, we just change 'em out every 2.5 years.

Subaru was fantastic and cut me a check for the cost of the new battery I had to put in as it was under warranty.

You'll lose your trip information and that's about it. Especially if you're just swapping batteries

I think it possible to lose proper function of the power windows and sunroof with the battery disconnected, but the Owners Manual shows the procedure to reset them.
